Is your workplace or home bone dry? THIS appears to be a pricy but solid solution.
I don’t give many 5 star reviews (and if this turns out to not be worthy after a long term usage, I will revise this review) but this thing really kicks out the humidity. I bought this to use at my office, which, like many offices in Michigan, doesn’t have humidifiers attached to their heating systems so the office is typically VERY DRY in the winter (sub 16% as measured by my and other humidistats on my floor.) (And my building was built only about 15 years ago when people knew about this issue so there really is not a good excuse for this lack.) I was formerly very impressed by a different model of humidifier, but that company doesn’t seem to make or sell them any more. And while that old humidifier is something I used to call the fog machine (and which would, literally, create a fog in a room if allowed to run, full blast, for over an hour in a closed bedroom), this new machine appears to be able to kick out 1.5x-2x the amount of water per hour, AND it has a 5 gallon capacity. So, while it may be 3x the price, and over 2x the height, of what I used to use, it has great value in that it can achieve the humidity I desire, even in an open office space.Why do you need a humidifier? Well, if you live where it gets cold, cold air just cannot carry much water. So even if you have 90% humidity outside at 30 degrees Fahrenheit, well when that air is heated up to 70 degrees, the humidity will fall to 16% because warm air can hold so much more water… and that 16% is not good for your health. I find that dry air leads to getting a sore throat, even if I am drinking 120 oz of water a day. Once I get that sore throat, getting sick tends to follow. Get that humidity up above 30% and that helps you feel warmer and stay healthy. (Don’t OVER humidify, that leads to different sorts of problems.)Humidifiers come in a few different types, but I only recommend the ultrasonic ones these days. They are much easier to maintain and also work much more efficiently and effectively at getting water into the air.The sensor shutoff works well. The UV light is not bad and changes color which amuses some of my coworkers. It assembles pretty easily and I just fill it by pulling the whole top off the bucket that holds the water. The rolling works well too, even when full.I may come back and update this if I ever play with the remote, phone app, or hook it in to WiFi.

This is a wonderful humidifier. It has Pros and Cons.Pros: 1. Large tank means fewer refills depending on humidifier setting. 2. It is very quiet, even on high mist volume setting. 3. A UV light is included in this unit for sterilization. 3. The mist nozzle can rotate 180 degrees for maximum coverage depending on placement of unit, but can also be stationary and point in the direction needed. 4. There is a 24 hour timer for operation. 5. The smart phone App is awesome in addition to the hand held remote control that come with the humidifier. It was easy to download and set up. 6. comes with a cleaning brush. 7. Detailed cleaning instructions. 8. The humidifier unit is tall and slender and takes up 1/4 of the floor space that an evaporative console would occupy. 9. The evaporative humidifer really puts out the mist, almost like creating a fog in that area. But, the moisture is quickly felt. 10. The unit also has a color light feature in front of the unit that is kind of neat, but you cannot set it on a specific color. It changes through the color spectrum. 11. There is a sleep mode that turns off all the lights and lighted control panel.Cons:1. Refilling the tank can be combersome if you need to wheel it across carpeting to get to the water source. It could tip very easy in transport once it is full. Hard floors-no problem. If you choose to refill the tank where it stands, then multiple trips with a pitcher is needed to refill the tank. There is no water level indicator to let you know the tank is adequately full when filling from the top. There is a viewable slot in front of the base, but it is difficult for me to determine if the base is fill to maximum capacity. 2. Don’t use tap water if possible. This will create lots of white dust. Demineralization of the water is highly recommended. 3. Cleaning is not simple and there are many parts that need attention. However, all the parts needed for cleaning come apart very easy without the need of tools.Overall: This is a very nice humidifier. I live in the Midwest and it gets cold and the Indoor Relative Humidity (IRH) can be at 20% or less, especially with forced air heat. I have this humidifier set at 50% and the mist at the highest level. However, I have humidistats at the opposite end of my living room and the IRH is between 34-43% which keeps my living room and kitchen very comfortable. This humidifier has also increased humidity levels in my den and bedroom via the forced air heating. With it set at 50%, it will cycle on and off as needed with the cycling of the forced air furnace. This unit keeps my 900 sq ft condo comfy. Although, I do have a smaller unit (different brand) in the bedroom for extra boost in humidity while I sleep. I gave this 4 stars because I need to wheel the tank carefully over my carpet after I fill up the resevoir. I am in my senior years and lifting 5 gallons is not an easy task for me.
