Easy install and works.
Easy install on a Sensi 2 thermometer. If you have a thermostat, usually older style, that uses battery and want to upgrade to a smart thermometer but dont have power coming to your thermostat like i did this will give you the power you need.My steam boiler only has two wires coming from the basement to the front of the house living room. Running a new cable would entail opening up walls or ceilings so i did some research and whoever doenst have an extra wire running up, this is the easiest solution. Some houses when they were wired, they ran three wires and only two were used you can use the spare one to power your smart thermostat or you can use the fan wire too, i did not have either.I chose a nearby outlet and decided to run the wire through the wall to make it look neat. Installed a ln outlet next to a light switch and looks good in my opinion.Power adapter plugs in and you just wire the ends to your RC and C terminals thats it youre done, polarity doesnt matter. Made a wooden frame for the thermostat using original wood and lath that was used to construct the house, Looks cheesy but i like it.

These are great, but you never know when they’ll quit.
Works great and all that, blah blah blah, but what makes them quit working after one or two years? This is a replacement for one I bought a couple years ago that just up and quit working. I opened the broken one up and there’s really nothing inside them except two steel plates and a bunch of really thin copper wire all wound up inside. No moving parts, no motherboard, no nothing, just steel and copper, what could make them just quit working?

Works very well as intended
Works perfectly for Google Nest doorbell and the Google Nest Thermostat that requires the “C” wire.I have a boiler that only has 2 wires that was hooked up to a mercury switch thermostat, however the Nest thermostat Requires a “C” wire that provides very low energy source.If you don’t have one then this works very well, just attach the wires to Red with the Red wire coming from the boiler and the other to the “C” wire on the Nest Thermostat. Your all set.Doorbell is easier just attach the two wires to the doorbell (it doesn’t matter which wire screws into the doorbell as far as left or right just screw them in) and plug it into a wall.

Good adapter but not for high demanding devices
TLDR: If you need a 24v adapter, your device does not need more than 0.5A and/or your camera is in a very low traffic area this should work perfectly. In my case it does not provide enough current to charge to keep my Eufy E340 camera going 24/7/365.In depth: To be clear this review reflects more of my unique use case than the adapter’s quality. The unit works as its intended and that it says it would, supplying 24v and 0.5A but in my use case it does not provide enough amperage for the Eufy E340 video doorbell camera. Due my camera being in a very high traffic area, with all the sensitivity settings turn down to the lowest, activity and privacy zones setup to try and minimize alerts/recordings this adapter cannot supply enough current to charge and keep the internal battery of the E340 topped up. The battery will begin to drain down until the camera has to turn off and disconnect, at this time the adapter will be able to be-able to charge the battery. You will lose a few hours of coverage from this issue, where the E340 cannot process recordings, chimes and etc. I would typically return the unit but as I had already run, clamped and hid the wiring, I will be purchasing a different adapter, cutting the wires off this unit and connecting them to the new different adapter to save time and energy resolving my use case issue.In terms of the unit itself, it seems to be good quality; not to big as to block other outlets which countless other adapters will do. The wire length is great at 8m or 26.2ft or 315in, is 26awg stranded wire that is terminated with pre stripped and tinned ends, which even the flux used from their tinning process being cleaned off shows an attention to detail and QA/QC. Price is what you would expect for these types of adapters ($17 USD at time of writing) so it’s a good value for money. No coil whine or noise can be heard and it does not generate abnormal levels of heat (granted only used the “touch method” instead of actually measure with say a infrared thermometer).

I have a two-wire millivolt fireplace that didn’t have a C-wire for my Sensi smart thermostat (which worked as a regular thermostat instead). This very inexpensive adapter turned my simple fireplace into a smart one now controlled by the Sensi app and Alexa. It’s a really good solution to a vexing problem. Includes wiring instructions and a lot of wire to run from the thermostat to the electrical outlet. You can also trim the wires to length.
