Great print quality
Even at 80 years of age, I was able to install this printer with relative ease. I would have liked more information on the usage of the printer included in the package. Otherwise a very good purchase for the money

Great printer for the price
Very pleased with purchase. Was looking for a printer to directly connect my phone to, since everything I do is now mobile. Have a computer but never use it. This thing connected flawlessly and I was printing from my phone within minutes. I cannot say how well it works with a computer but I imagine it is flawless as well. Not sure about the included ink, but I think it is just a starter ink. I think I remember past printer purchases that came with starter ink cartridges as well. The print quality is great, too. It prints as fast as can be expected for an inkjet printer. Depending on your resolution and color/monochrome, it may take awhile to print but I print mostly in black/white so I understand the limits. Overall, a great purchase that I am happy with.

Very good but not outstanding
The printer I received was a J1010DW instead of the J1012DW that I ordered. It is the same printer however and I am happy with the model that I received. I am comparing this with HP8028 which is what I had before. The printer is extremely easy to set up, same as HP. Just follow the provided booklet and the manual that you can download from the Brother site. I did not bother with installing the app on the phone and just manually entered the network information. The printer connected to WiFi immediately and worked without any issues.I think the black and white print quality is on par with the HP but the color on the regular paper appears to be a bit less saturated. The HP used all pigment inks and Brother uses dye inks for color and pigment for black. I have not yet printed any pictures and will update the review when I do. The color on the regular paper is not a big deal to me. The print speed subjectively looks slower than the HP. If the print speed is important this is not a great printer. It will definitely work fine in my home office setting. The printer is very quiet compared to HP and compared to my Brother laser. Not sure why other reviews are complaining about the noise. It does come on at some random times to clean its heads but it only lasts a few seconds, maybe 20 and it is not loud at all. I have heard this only one time. The scan quality is excellent and the scan speed is very fast. Much faster than HP. I use the scanner mostly for documents and an occasional picture. Document scan quality is very nice. The scanner ADF can’t handle narrow receipts but handles full pages just fine.I wanted a fax in the printer, although I almost never use it, it is handy to have when needed. The material quality seems to be worse than HP. Plastics are quite flimsy, especially the paper tray. The plastics should not be subjected to stress and should be treated with care. The plastics also do not look as nice as HP did. The reason may be that this is a cheaper printer. One thing that I do not like is that the power cord and the phone jacks are on the side so they are visible and hang on the side of the cabinet because printer is on the edge. HP had all cords coming out of the back of the printer. The software is adequate. The only gripe I have with the software is that it is over 1GB in size. The HP software was around 500MB and I thought that was a huge size for the functionality. The scanning software is missing the scan cropping feature. On the plus side it automatically crops images very accurately. The software is not memory heavy so you would not need a PC with a lot of memory to run it. If you are working with high resolution images and scans you will need a lot of memory but that is expected. The printer startup time is much faster than HP. It is ready to print in just a few seconds from power on. The HP took many minutes to get ready to print. One reason I selected this printer is the availability of the after market ink. HP seems to wage a war on refilling the cartridges and the after market ink. I will update the review when I use the after market ink or refill my cartridges. The initial cartridges are normal size unlike HP where they are almost empty.Overall, my initial impression about this machine is very positive. I hope it matches my Brother laser which is 20 years old and works just fine.

Zero star !! 🙁
This purchase was a big mistake. O star.Never been able to print anything except the alignment paper. It is a complex process to set up; you have to download an App. After doing this, the printer shows offline even though it is connected to my WIFI. Nightmare. I am actually giving it away; I just cannot stand it anymore.

Excellent all-in-one printer
Very essy to set up! Print from my laptop or phone. Was able to scan files directly in a folder on my laptop. Print and scan quality is excellent. Very reasonably priced ink cartridges.

Easy setup. Works well. Great buy for the price. I wish the screen display was larger.

Good printer but difficult paper drawer
The printer was relatively easy to set up and the print quality is good. The biggest issue is that the paper drawer is difficult to open. It takes both hands and some force to open it.

I’m so glad I picked the Brother MFC-J1012DW Wireless Inkjet Printer as my first printer. I needed something “dummy-friendly,” and this one really is plug-and-play. Setup was fast, Wi-Fi connected easily, and the app makes printing from my laptop or phone a breeze.I only use it a few times a week for shipping labels or documents (mostly black & white), and it prints super clean. Duplex printing is a nice bonus, too. The scanner is just as easy, even my 8-year-old even scanned a paper on his own! It’s compact, reliable, and doesn’t make me fight with it. If you want a stress-free printer that just works, this is it.

I’ve had a few printers in my life and i found this one to be the fastest for setup. I was easily able to connect the printer to my phone, and personal/work laptops. Printer cartridge price also seems much lower than other brands. Print quality is very good and print cartridges are lasting as expected

Good basic printer for my small home office. Has all the necessary features plus a few unnecessary (eg Fax!). Still, works well, a fair price, and morst important for me, Brother provides good driver support for Linux PCs.Very satisfied. Would buy again.

this print is horrible. i would NOT recommend at all. I bought this printer end of Sept and set it up middle of Oct and it is already broken. I cant get any support from Brother and cant get any help with the issue. The printer locked itself into fac mode when i changed the ink cartridge. I was printing important doc and in the end had to pay another company to print. Defeated the purpose of buying this printer. So it sits here no tech support no number to call and what try recommend on line doenst work. DONT BUY THIS PRINTER> DONT BY ANY BROTHER PRINTER THERE IS NO WAY TO GET SUPPORT.
