This DVR camera system comes with everything you need to set it up and start monitoring your property. The DVR is compact and self-contained – monitor, 500GB drive and all camera inputs all-in-one. Setup is easy and straightforward, just run the wiring to where you locate your cameras, plug in to the back of the DVR and your all set.This system comes with four cameras but is expandable up to eight cameras total. The cameras are plastic and not made of metal like some systems are, but they seem to be rather solid and should withstand the elements pretty well while resisting corrosion. The camera system uses basic BNC wiring, very commonly used in systems such as this. This wiring provides the video feed and also the power for the cameras, so you don’t need to run a separate power wire to the cameras. An important note – make sure to hook the proper end to the camera before running and hiding your wires. The ends are different which hook to the camera and to the DVR. The supplied camera wiring is 60 ft. in length but if you need any longer wiring runs, you can get longer wires and hook them into these as they can be linked together.The DVR, while a bit small, has a good picture display and you can set it up to view 1 camera or all cameras on the screen. The view can be varied, depending on your preference and you can click on any of the cameras to view it on full screen. When you install the system and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network, there is an APP you can download which will allow you to access the cameras from anywhere you have Wi-Fi coverage. This is a REALLY nice feature as it allows you to monitor your home or wherever you have your cameras setup in real time. This is especially important when you’re going to be away for a while, you can check on your property to ensure everything is okay. The APP is free so there’s no fees or monthly charges to deal with, which is great! This system has a lot of great features – motion detection, alerts, camera masking, etc. and all of this can be setup to your preferences. Another nice aspect is you only need Wi-Fi access to view the cameras remotely. If you’re at home, you can monitor all of the cameras through the DVR so you don’t even need internet access for that. And of course, you can view the cameras with your phone or other device which has the APP on it, but that also requires Wi-Fi access to use your devices.I can tell you for absolute certain, this is a really good system with a lot of great features for the price! The video resolution is very good, camera coverage is good, and everything is easy to setup. The hardest part is running the wires, but you’ll have to do that with virtually ANY camera system unless you go completely wireless and solar powered. But a hard-wired system is best for reliability. I believe you’ll be so pleased with this system you’ll want to upgrade and add those additional four cameras bringing your total to eight. I really like this camera system, and I feel confident enough in it to give my full recommendation!

I installed this at the new charity office where I volunteer, and it has been working without any major issues for the past two months. Of course, that’s not a long enough time to guarantee long-term durability, but I feel like it’s cleared the first hurdle.What I like about this security system compared to the ones installed at my home is that it delivers solid performance at a much lower cost. It was perfect for my purpose — a decent security solution without spending too much money or going with a big-name brand.One thing to note: this was installed by a volunteer who is a professional, so it wasn’t difficult for him. I’m not sure how easy it would be for someone without experience, since I didn’t do the installation myself.As long as it continues to perform well over time, I think this is an excellent deal in terms of the overall quality you get for the price you pay.
