A Powerful and Promising Travel Router for the Tech-Savvy
As a tech enthusiast who travels frequently, finding a reliable and powerful portable router is always a priority. The GL.iNet Slate 7 has been a fantastic addition to my travel kit.The feature set on this little device is impressive. Having Wi-Fi 7 and a 2.5 Gigabit port in such a compact form factor is a game-changer. The performance is solid, providing a fast and stable connection that has handled everything I’ve thrown at it, from streaming 4K video to managing multiple devices and maintaining a secure VPN connection. The build quality is quite decent. It feels sturdy enough to handle the rigors of being packed and unpacked in a travel bag, which is exactly what you need.My only wish would be for future iterations to embrace modularity. The potential for this device could be expanded immensely with support for add-on modules. Imagine being able to snap on a small UPS for uninterrupted power or an NVMe module for ultra-fast onboard storage. That would elevate it from a great travel router to an indispensable mobile powerhouse.Overall, this is an excellent product that I’d highly recommend to any fellow techy looking for top-tier performance on the go. It’s a solid piece of kit with a very bright future.

Amazing Travel Router
This thing is amazing. All our devices are connected to it via WiFi 7 so everything is really fast. When we travel we just connect this to the hotel WiFi and don’t need to connect each of our individual devices. And a little surprise I didn’t know is that it can use SurfShark, NordVPN and others if you already have those and want to use them. This lets things like a firestick think you are in your home area no matter where you are in the world. It also gives you total control of everything. You can setup port forwarding, guest networks, dynamic DNS and more. It was easy to setup and works really well. Highly recommended.

Best travel router I’ve ever had
I bought this to address a specific network issue I was experiencing between my main system and a MS Surface Pro.I needed a way to increase the bandwidth between these 2 devices, and also provide Internet. On both systems I installed USB-C 2.5GB network adapters. I set the WAN port to a LAN port, and plugged both systems in. I connected the router as a client to the WIFI.Now normally, when you have both an active WIFI and ethernet connection, the primary connection always defaults to the ethernet. I manually set the metric on my main system to default to the WIFI. On the surface, I disabled the WIFI so it goes through via the travel router. This established a route from the main PC to the Surface via ethernet. After testing the speed between the systems, I was getting a solid 1.8Gbps.That perfectly fixed my issue, but wait….there’s more..Now that I had this very robust router up and running, I absolutely had to check out it’s other features. The web interface is extremely intuitive and I quickly got a sense of all of the features available. I tested the VPN client by adding my ProtonVPN manually to the router, and it only took about 3 minutes to have it up and running and tested. It has AdGuard built in, which I won’t need much at home since I run PiHole, but it will be very handy when I am travelling. There are a lot of options for remotely managing the router, but also it has an SSH connection. For the very tech-savvy, this is a welcome feature. There is a ton more I could spend hours writing about, but let me condense it down to this.I was worried about spending this much to fix a minor issue I had, but after seeing how perfectly it fixed the issue, and the additional tools that this adds to my travel kit, I am more than satisfied, This is high quality and worth every penny.

Best travel router currently in the market with top notch customer support
I’ve tested 4–5 different travel routers over the past six months, and the GL.iNet GL-BE3600 (Slate 7) is by far the best. It delivers a consistently stable connection and works flawlessly with both Android and iPhones.I primarily use a travel router to stream my son’s travel baseball games and to stay connected when I’m on the road. With other travel routers, I constantly ran into connection issues—especially when cellular signals were less than ideal. Troubleshooting was frustrating, since problems could stem from all kinds of factors. For example, with TP-Link routers, I eventually discovered they had issues with USB 3.1 Gen 2 cables, despite claiming compatibility. It took weeks of trial and error (and unhelpful support) before I figured out that swapping to USB 2.0 cables resolved the problem. In contrast, GL.iNet’s support has been fantastic. They were patient, responsive, and easy to work with. While I didn’t encounter the same cable issues with this router, I did experience a few minor bugs. Their team reviewed my user logs, quickly offered workarounds, and assured me that fixes would be included in upcoming firmware updates. That level of support gave me a lot of confidence in the product. From a functionality standpoint, the external touchscreen is a game changer. Being able to switch between repeater mode and tethering mode without logging into the app makes the experience seamless. The connection itself is rock-solid—rarely drops, and when it does, it reconnects automatically within seconds.I like to thoroughly test products before committing, and this travel router has proven itself to be a keeper. The build quality is excellent, the performance is second to none, and the support exceeded my expectations.I highly recommend the Slate 7 to anyone looking for the best travel router available today.

Easy setup. Lots built in functions. And fast! I would give more stars if I could.Note, when I first went to set it up, I used a charge block and cord that was available. I unit kept restarting (scrappy cord) . So if you have the same problem, use the supplied cord.
