No need for a smart TV
Better than any firestick or roku by far. Don’t need a smart TV with this. Just stream any app or site to the chromecast.

Second purchase
I bought one of these initially a year ago. I watch YouTube, Amazon Prime, and movies from my phone. It’s easy to set up, streams without issues, and connects easily.

Needs phone to control
This is a pretty solid dongle for turning a TV into a smart TV. It does surprisingly well, even in the lower Wi-Fi parts of my house. I wish it would interact with the TV’s remote control, but I haven’t tested the full matrix of universal controllers, etc, and I did buy the lower end Chromecast, so maybe that’s how it is! I have this in my workout room, and I use it to watch guided workouts on YouTube every morning. It saves me from trying to navigate a native YouTube app on a 15-year-old TV, which, let me tell you, takes longer than the workout does.

It is terrible
I have a pixel 8 pro phone which would only allow casting to Chromecast and Google TV devices, however it is always a nightmare to try to cast anything on this thing. If you try to play a video on it from your phone, the connection will drop randomly and to re-establish it would be very difficult.

Works, sort of
This thing kind of sucks, but does work as intended at least some of the time. Lots of information online about them being a nightmare to set up, and it all turned out to be accurate. Had to reset the device and the TV around 8 times before it would finally let me connect devices, and when it finally did work it kept dropping the feed after a couple minutes. Eventually got it working stable, but there is a consistent 1-2 second audiovisual delay that makes it hard to enjoy. Still, if presented with no other option, this will do the trick.
