I just think it looks better. and if you happen to have a large hole in your wall from the previous thermostat, this gracefully covers that up and makes it look stylish.

Needed for installation
When I took the old thermostat out of the house, there was quite a large hole. This covered the hole and made installation of the nest much easier.

I was hesitant at first after reading the reviews below; however, it seems to me that the people complaining about this trim / accent piece did not do their homework – or bought this without looking at the details for it. There are MANY things to like about this:1) The accent piece looks really nice in my opinion – granted not everyone will like the “tea cup”-ness of it.2) The mounting hardware it comes makes it DEAD SIMPLE to mount the new nest thermostat within the exact same horizontal screw holes that my previous thermostat took up.3) The color is spot on match with the thermostat – meaning it looks like one piece instead of two individual pieces.4) This trim/accent piece also allowed me to use the old screw hardware that I had on my previous thermostat when mounting it to the wall – A+ for that!

Units are not New Sealed Units
These are not new sealed units. They show some signs of use – scratches and other marks on the surface. I have ordered several units – most are missing something in the packaging. – Metal mounting plates, screws, instructions, etc. They are obviously returns of some type. That said, they are Google manufactured units and fit the Thermostat perfectly. If you have some extra screws and don’t need the steel mounting plate they work just fine.

Had an electrician install it so unsure on how easy to assemble but it was easy to connect to the app. Has been going strong for a couple weeks now and our house stays a perfect temp. Dont opt for the temp control that is suppose to be eco friendly it won’t let you cool your house below 78 degrees which is ridiculous so I just do the one where you can set the temp to when the ac kicks on and then you can set the temp to heat when it drops it has been working so amazingly and our electric bill has not been expensive

Amazon shipping was super fast as always.It does its job of hiding the unpainted area where the old thermostat was installed. It is nice how there are plates for matching nest thermostats. The only issue i have with this product is the price point. I really don’t think this piece of plastic should cost $20. Nevertheless, I bought it because I am too lazy to paint the entire wall and I feel somewhat defeated!!! OH WELL
