I took a chance on this “reconditioned” HDD from Hitachi as my main HDD was failing in an older Dell Tower. At the same time, I’m building a Ryzen 3700x tower with all the good stuff(SSD, NVME m.2 etc) and wanted to see if the Hitachi would work out. It’s great. Reviews I read said it was reliable, and spinning at 7200 rpm gives a satisfying data access speed. I bought another one for the Ryzen. I purchased a data protection plan as a further bit of protection in case of failure, but I don’t expect it to have issues within 4-5 years per reviews.

This attractively priced (but used) HDD passed a large number of disk tests shortly after I received it. I will follow up should I have any problems with it.

They last. And they work.
I have put a LOT of hours on eight of these in a very unforgiving environment (an external, low-end RAID case that is only so-so at keeping drives cool and damping vibration). I use it for online nightly backups stretching to multiple terabytes.Not a hiccup after several years. They spin up without complaint, read and write without constant audible recalibration due to heat, and just keep chugging along. I am grateful to them for providing great service for so many years.

I think this is probably about the 10th hard drive I’ve purchased from go hard drive. I purchased two drives with this order both drives pasted the manufactures extended test which takes almost 24 hours. I use the drives to back up my laptop and rotate through them. The drives are fully encrypted so the drives are written to to encrypt them for close to 36 hours!!! I use them in a external dock and I leave the fan on to cool them

Save your money
The first of two failed on initialization. The second took a very long time to clone an emergency hdd for my backup failsafe. When I attempted to use the clone several months later, it did initialize for me to see the files. However the clone was incomplete and the harddrive ran very hot. When I tried again after letting the drive cool, the drive would not initialize and just clicked. Save your money.

These drives are very reliable and it’s nice that they are available for so low cost. Using it for my Plex server in a dell poweredge R410. Don’t expect any problems reads and writes fast one year warranty thats worth to me
