How do I install the Nuki Door Sensor?
You install the Nuki Door Sensor by attaching it to your door and frame using the adhesive pads. Next you connect it to your Smart Lock via the Nuki app. The app guides you through opening and closing the door so the sensor can learn its positions.
How is the Nuki Door Sensor powered?
The Nuki Door Sensor is powered by a 3.6V lithium battery (½ AA ER14250) with a lifespan of approximately 2 years. The Nuki app notifies you when the battery level drops to 20%.

Works great! This is a must have for your Nuki Lock!
I was able to pair this easily with the Nuki app and it works quite well. The Nuki company is based out of Europe and I think there may be some lag with it sensing the open/close state of the sensor, it sometimes is about 3-4 seconds delayed. The build quality of this is standard and they include a long life battery to last about 2 years I believe. It uses a strong magnet to attach to the door, about 1/2″ square and then the sensor has a handy placement line engraved into the plastic so you can align it just right on the first try or two. Overall, easy to install!I was able to get this to work almost instantly after I connected it to my Home Assistant, now, as soon as the door is open, I get the status of it being open. Additionally, the lock now knows if the door was opened and when shut so it can auto lock it right behind you. I have mine set to the lowest time and as soon as we exit, about 5 seconds later we are locked!This is well worth the money if you are concerned about the door being open unintentionally or ajar because it didn’t fully latch. 🙂 Also, great if you are wanting to be optionally alerted to someone entering your home via the app. We came from the August Lock which was getting tired and ate my batteries. As one person pointed out, it doesn’t come with the lock, but i think, given the current pricing structure of the lock and the sensor, you are about par with the other locks in price.

Works well, but insanely overpriced, and doesn’t integrate into anything else
The only reason to buy this sensor is to take advantage of the in-app features for door open/close detection. It doesn’t integrate with any other ecosystem so it’s not useful for any other purposes aside from this lock. It’s also insanely expensive for what it is.If you’re skilled with automation building and you’re integrating Nuki into something like SmartThings, you can replicate the in-app door open/close functionality using a standard door open/close sensor instead of buying this one.

Difficult setup & extremely lacking in performance.
Comparative to the August Smart Lock, this door sensor is a 0/10. First, the fact it’s not built in like August and costs $60 is crazy. Good thing for them, I’m dumb and bought it anyway. However, setup was incredibly painful – still not sure if the calibration will hold up after 25 tries. Second, performance compared to August is painfully slow. The door shows as open/closed for at least 30 seconds after it’s actually opened or closed. Whereas with August, it immediately indicates whether the door is open, ajar, or closed. Nuki, please rethink this solution – I love the lock, but not so much the door sensor.

Great sensor, could used improved placement instructions
This door sensor is a fantastic addition to the Nuki lock, providing real peace of mind by confirming your door is actually closed, not just locked. Once installed, it’s discreet and works reliably.However, the installation process could be significantly improved. The instructions lack detail and the mounting options are limited, which can lead to some trial and error to get the placement just right. Despite the setup hassle, the added functionality is worth it.

Cannot connect with android. Cannot connect with android. Trust all the negative reviews, this thing is hot garbage… or perhaps their app is, but it’s useless without it.
