This Display Falls Short In Some Ways But All Considered – It’s Awesome
This device is made from pieces of 3 mm frosted plexiglass (front and sides) and a piece of 6 mm clear plexiglass on the back, where the LED strip is mounted. It’s held together by corner hardware with hex-head screws. These are removable, so the whole display can be taken apart and reassembled. The plug that comes out of the case is the same type commonly used with desktop computer case fans. Interestingly, there are two wires (red and white) with bare cut ends. This connection leads to a box that serves as the controller for the light. I haven’t opened it, since I wouldn’t know what I was looking at, though there could be switches inside. I may crack it open at some point.I was ready to give this display 1 star because the strip of paper included only shows how to hang the box on a wall and has a QR code labeled “tutorial.” I scanned the code, downloaded the app it pointed to, and immediately hit problems. This app tries to hijack your home screen UI and your keyboard. As far as I can tell, none of this has anything to do with the operation of the display. If you don’t agree to the takeover, you can’t proceed. That’s a deal-breaker for me. To me this feels like a sneaky attempt to seize control of phone functions for no good reason. Nope.Later, when editing photos for this review, I noticed a second QR code—on the controller box itself. Nothing points to it; it isn’t mentioned anywhere. I scanned it, and surprise: that’s the code that leads to the actual app needed to control the display. So the “tutorial” code on the strip of paper is at best useless, and at worst misleading. My advice: don’t scan it.Some people dislike having to install an app at all, but I’ve done it before. While Google Play isn’t perfect, I’ve never personally had an issue with an app from there. That said, the interface and controls in this app are among the least intuitive I’ve ever seen. I fiddled with it for over an hour without making real progress. Maybe you’ll have better luck than I did.My key takeaways:• The display is overpriced. At best, it’s worth about half the listed price.• No remote. At this price, there should be one with customizable buttons.• Sneaky attempt to hijack phone functions. Not acceptable.• No real printed instructions. Basically none at all.Overall this LED display has potential but at this price point there is just too much missing, too many things that could have been done and should have been done but weren’t.ADD: I kept working with this display because some of the demo effects were very nice. I can’t tell you everything I did and everything I tried, but in the end I downloaded the “LED DMX” app from the Play Store. It has nearly the same functionality as the “LED LAMP” app pointed to from the display but it is a different app. And it works. I’m glad I stuck with it.—————————————————————————————————————–Update: The more time I’ve spent with this display, the more I like it. The effect of the matte or frosted front panel with LEDs that “chase” in a circular pattern looks like the lights are actually physically rotating in a circle inside the box. It’s a very unusual and unique effect. Everything I’ve said about this display still applies but I can live with it all to have this display. I was also shocked when I went to the listing on Amazon to see the price had dropped by quite a bit. Amazon pricing tends to fluctuate but today the price was good enough that I ordered two more and recommended this setup to a friend who bought one for his wife. At current pricing I highly recommend this display. Maybe you can get the LED LAMP app to work but for me, the LED DMX app from the play store has been great.

Tranzlume Smart lamp has DIY effects, over 100 preset options and is controlled via an app downloaded to a smart phone and a Bluetooth connection with the lamp. It takes a bit of time to figure it all out but it is a very interesting smart lamp. This can be used for music synchronization, gaming sound synchronization, color psychology, environmental lighting with the exact hue preferred, etc. The possibilities are endless. The package contains screws and anchors for hanging, the wiring for power and a basic start sheet with a QR for downloading the app. The app is where the magic happens. By accident I found if you activate the smart doorbell sound it will light up for that as well. I am excited to learn how to fully use this light. It is clear that there are many layers it it’s usefulness. I absolutely recommend this for anyone who loves smart devices. This would be useful tool for the hearing impaired, for gamers, entertainers, party planners, vloggers, etc. In the app they show this lighting car interiors and exteriors as well. If you want an easy plug and play device that doesn’t require customization you might find this more involved than you prefer otherwise go for it! It’s great fun and unique.

I don’t know about this thing
First off, it does look cool when you get it going. But it does not inspire confidence. It comes in non descript package with an additional box filled with screws and wall mounting gear. Basically no instructions. That’s it. The actual plug into the unit is not standard USB. It looks like a computer fan plug. It does have wires sticking out. They are not exposed but for this kind of money they should be at least shrink wrapped. The other end is your standard usb. There are no external controls, so you get what you get. There is allegedly an app that I am not downloading for security reasons. There have been no issues with it, but I’m not leaving it plugged in. Mine also had screws loose in the box. I had to screw one back in to keep the frosted box together. This is not worth the asking price. I bet there are better built, cheaper options.

This is an awesome concept for a decorative lamp!
This is super cool for a wall lamp. Very futuristic and pretty, bringing a geometric feel to the room. The box part is put together well enough and decently sturdy, and the only thing that needs to be done before plugging it in is connecting the USB wire to the actual light. Super easy to set up, and it stays on the wall nicely with an indent that is meant for a nail, thumbtack, or any other smaller wall mount. I love the concept and I’ve never really anything exactly like this before, 10 stars!

A Bit Expensive for What It Is
An LED ring and 4 frosted pieces of plastic. So it’s a bit expensive for what it is, but it is exactly as advertised. I did not follow the QR code to download the app because I am concerned about security and while I’m sure the app is functional, I’m not about to risk my phone’s security for the added features.After a bit of time passes, it will do different patterns.
