Inexpensive and Effective. Great picture day and night.
This is my fifth camera. Don’t let the wireless fool you. The network connection is wireless, but you’ll still need to run power. Since these will most likely be mounted on the exterior walls of your home, you’ll want to fish that wire inside the wall and have the other end pop out near an AC outlet. Your exterior walls are insulated. You’ll need a set of fiberglass rods to push through the insulation. My exterior walls are stucco, so that also means stucco patch. I found it easier to fill the hole in the stucco with caulk first, and apply stucco patch a few weeks later once the caulk had fully cured. This makes a clean, professional, installation that nearly is wireless. There is only a short piece of thin white wire that runs straight into the wall just behind the camera. The more professional your install appears not only looks nicer, but makes the would be malintented individual(s) wonder just how much you spent on this system. What other surprises are behind this? I can tell you in my case, a LOT! I started with the inexpensive stuff, beefing up the door and window locks first. I even put up fake cameras as a deterrent, and put security decals on every door and window. Did that work? The fake cameras did not. Someone tried to break in, twice actually. The beefed up locks stopped one, and the alarm system stopped the next. Correction, three times! I chased after one! The police caught him shortly thereafter. But without cameras, there was no footage. The police needed the video from the fake cameras. Sorry, not available. That’s when we decided we need real ones. Something that stores everything offsite in it’s own cloud backup. Something that runs 24×7, constantly recording. Something that will capture video day and night. Something simple enough for a do-it-yourself install, and lastly would not break the bank, or make us rob one to afford it. The ability to monitor remotely via smart phone is a big bonus too. Should we be notified of an alarm, we can pull up the cameras and see exactly what happened. These Zmodo camera’s fill every requirement. Since installing the first few about a year ago, no one has bothered us. That doesn’t mean we will no longer be vigilant. If there are areas we cannot see, we still want to be sure they are covered. Should someone attempt to disable a camera, we want to be sure another camera captures it. The fact that we continue to buy more and expand this system proves it meets all our needs. We would, and have, purchased again and again. You don’t have to max out a credit card and do it all at once. Buy one or two. I’m sure you’ll be more than satisfied. You can always expand your system later as time and funds permit. Oh, and don’t waste your money on the fake ones. They obviously don’t even work as a deterrent! Just get the real thing, and have real protection. The next time the police ask for video, it’ll be on my screen before they even arrive, and I’ll give them a link where they can download it. I’ll even capture a snapshot or two.

Working Well
I bought these to replace some aging cameras. They connected without issue and are working well. They’re not super fancy but they do the job. Well worth the price imo.

Zmodo Outdoor Cameras
I wish the 3 pack would come back into stock so that we could buy another set. We have these out in our barn watching over our livestock. I love the graphic quality on these cameras. Their motion detection can sometimes be delayed but that could just be our WIFI. Easy set up and maintenance with the cameras as well.

Easy To Connect – Stays Connected – Good Day or Night Video
This is an excellent outdoor camera let down by non-weather resistant A/C adapter, cabling and connectors. You must ensure these are protected or your camera will likely short out. The camera body itself is very weather and water proof. I’m dinging Zmodo 2 stars for selling this as an outdoor device then providing non-weather resistant cable/connectors/AC adapter.Having said that, I’ve used Zmodo indoor cameras for years and they have been 100% reliable and stay connected when other brands fail, either in hardware or software.This model was easy to pair with my WiFi system. I used the “Add Camera” feature in my IOS Zmodo app. When directed, I plugged the the Zmodo into power, in the house, turned my iPhone screen with a barcode generated by Zmodo at the Zmodo outdoor camera lens. The camera, app and my iPhone interacted and my Zmodo camera was integrated into my Wifi and added to my Zmodo App. It took a bit to understand the above procedure but once complete my Zmodo outdoor camera was ready to mount.I then unplugged the Zmodo from indoor power, took it outside and mounted in a high position looking down at my backyard. Mounting screws made it easy to mount to a wood deck. There is a plug on a short cord that comes out of the camera which plugs into a longer cord with the A/C adapter.None of the connectors or A/C adapter is weather/waterproof or even water resistant as I mentioned. The power cable itself is thin and won’t last more than a couple seasons if not protected. I wrapped all connectors in heavy duty weather resistant electrical tape and connected the A/C adapter into a weather proof outdoor electrical box.The camera has worked perfectly for two weeks. I like the video quality, both day and night. All the functions Zmodo advertises work. You get a free month of Cloud service without having to provide a credit card.I’m would buy this camera again but Zmodo should do more to weather proof the cable, connectors, and A/C adapter.
