    Reliable, quality product
Great Ceiling mount motion sensor, this is my second of this item, but it doesn’t feet inside standard round plastic cutting box, I had to place box extender, other than this it is perfect.

    Works great
It’s 2025. Used in the garage as an entry light when the door opens. Still works great. Adjustability is very good.

    Good, but can be finicky
I’m very pleased with this unit. It’s exactly what I needed for a basement hallway. It senses great, actuates predictably (most of the time) and was almost no trouble installing. The only issues I have with it are as follows:1. The PIR lens doesn’t like to stay in place. It’s very easy to inadvertently make it fall off.2. The relay that actuates the light is pretty loud when it actuates. If my ceiling were taller perhaps the sound wouldn’t be so loud but I would think there would be some way to attenuate the loud “click” it makes, even just a little.3. We had this very strange occurrence where the power was shut off to the motion sensor so the space could be painted and then it wouldn’t turn back on. It really threw our electrician for a loop. It worked perfectly well prior to painting. They masked it off and flipped the power switch to the lights (thus cutting power to the motion sensor) and then when they were done painting, they flipped the wall switch back on and the motion sensor wouldn’t register any motion detected. It acted like it had no power. We ordered a second unit after a few days to see if it was the unit or the wiring but before the replacement arrived it spontaneously started working again without anyone touching it or any part of the circuit. In total it acted dead for about a week or so before it started working again. Very strange.Other than those issues, one of which I’m scared to try to reproduce, the unit works very well and I’m pleased with it.

    Very useful, Gray wires explained
My review is for the “Ceiling Sensor for J-Box Installation MPC-50V” the one that comes with 2 small grey wires for a momentary switch. I installed mine in my garage which is my work shop and it works flawlessly, it has an internal relay so it can work with any type of load up to its limit (800 watts Incandescent) The gray wires and the Vacancy function (dip switch) is pooooorly explained in the instructions. In most cases the grey wires are not used and the vacancy dip switch is left to disable but if you want to know what do they do here it goes: They should be connected to a momentary normally open switch (Push button like your door bell or your garage door opener) I set my sensor to 10 minutes delay (I call it timer) so lights will go off 10 minutes after the LAST motion is detected. VACANCY DISABLED: The sensor detects motion > lights turns on > new motion reset timer, timer runs out > lights turns off; while lights are on, the momentary switch will turn lights off and on as many times as you want until timer runs out. If you turn the lights off with the momentary switch they will remain off even if new motion is detected (timer ALWAYS resets w/ new motion regardless mode setting ) UNTIL the timer runs out, THEN a new motion will turn lights on. VACANCY ENABLED: The sensor is sensing but lights remain off, the momentary button will turn lights on, ONLY if timer is active that means sensing must happen before, if the lights are on and the timer expire the lights turns off BUT if in the next 30 seconds the sensor sense motion again the lights will tune back on for another timer period, if the timer and the 30 seconds expire you go back to the beginning were sensing will not turn on lights. In short this mode prevent lights from turning on during periods you don’t want, lights stays off if manually turned off or timer + 30 sec expires. In my case I have it on Vacancy Disable. I push the momentary switch if I know I will not return for a while so lights do not stay on for the duration of the timer.

    Great solution with limitations.
Functions great, but has its limitations. As other purchasers have mentioned, this line voltage specific unit does not fit into the standard box store 14-18cu round old work boxes. You’ll be required to purchase an extension kit that Enerlites manufactures and is not sold on Amazon.Part: Enerlites MPC-AThe project I had planned to complete in a few hours turned into a month and half long wait due to sourcing the additional part outside of amazon.

UL and other approvals. Easy to install. Mounting screws match up with ceiling box
I returned another brand that was about 1/2 the price because the mounting holes were in the wrong place and had no approvals. . This brand/model is made correctly and has all the approvals.. The little cover pops off with just a fingernail on one clip (you do not use a screwdriver as it is too thick and will damage it). If you have to use a guitar pick or razor knife or butter knife). The cover just snaps right back on. The wires are labeled. Red goes to the load (light), white goes with all the other whites (neutrals) , black goes to the black hot. The other two little gray wires are for a momentary switch that most won’t use so you tape each end up and then bundle them together with tape close to the unit to get them out of the way. You also have the switch on it set to not using the wires (you do all this before you begin to mount it). It screwed on a hex ceiling light box. Its only plastic so don’t over-tighten. Use the screws already on the box as it does not come with any. It has a test mode. Then you set the timer on how long to leave the light on once it senses motion. It rechecks for motion and starts count down with motion. It also comes with a little sticker sheet to stick on pieces on the sensor to block detection from the sides you may not want it. I am happy with this unit.

The only light switch for my garage lighting was in the house, an awkward setup with only 2 lamp holders in the garage. I installed this in one of the two electrical ceiling boxes and changed the other to a duplex outlet in conjunction with installing LED shop lighting. With this ceiling occupancy sensor I can open the door to the garage and the lights will be on before I can even step into the garage. As another reviewer said there is a delay before it turns the lights on, this sometimes happens after a month or so but is fixed after the power goes off and on again (restarting the device) so I left the original light switch in place in the “on” position to facilitate restarting the device. I adjusted the duration so that when activated the lights will stay on for about 6 minutes which is perfect for my application.

Had this installed in our walk in closet and so far it works perfectly. It is very convenient to have a sensor like this installed especially for when your hands are full.
