Fingerprint reader could be a hit and miss.
The lock is simple to install, and you don’t even have to remove the old cylinder…if you already have one installed. It’s also sturdy enough to prevent unwanted entry to your home, but that’s where the good things end. The fingerprint reader is fine while it’s working but can leave you outside at any moment. You could be using your fingerprint to get in through the door all day long when suddenly it won’t read your fingerprint anymore. The worst part is that if you keep trying, moving your finger over the fingerprint reader, all the numbers on the keypad begin to flash and you can’t get back in the house not even with your pass code. So, at that point, to reset it, you’ll need to remove the battery pack, which by the way is held with screw, remove at least one battery to shut off its power and reinstall the battery(s). It’ll start working again without issues, but maybe for a day or two. Of course, to get access to the battery pack, you’ll need to be inside your home, which may be an issue if other entry doors to the house are locked.Programing, especially that first fingerprint, could be a frustration in itself because of the fingerprint reader. It took a while, and many tries for the reader to recognize and accept my fingerprint. You can setup a passcode, which must be either six or eight digits. Sure, a six vs a four-digit code makes it a little harder for someone to copy it, but entering those six digits with the keypad sideways, is not as simple. Also, another frustration is that the lock locks itself automatically within five seconds after being unlocked. So, if you are carrying something and must set it down to unlock the door, you must hurry up, so you can get in before the five seconds have expired. You can prevent the lock from locking automatically by entering a combination of numbers (555), pressing the lock button and the using your fingerprint. You also use the same process to turn the automatic locking feature (five seconds) back on. But there’s no indication on whether the lock is locked or unlocked and if you don’t step out the door and manually check, especially at night, the door can remain unlocked.The lock comes with two physical keys, which is nice, and you can leave a key attached to the lock during constant opening and closing of the door but must make sure the key is removed before retiring to bed or before leaving the house.Anyway, the only reason I didn’t return the lock was because it took me a while to install it after I ordered it, and by that time the return window had expired. I’m just glad I didn’t throw the old lock away because it’s going back on the other, while this one is going straight to where it belongs…in the trash.01/13/2025: I walked out the door and when I tried to get back in, neither the fingerprint or the manual code entry would worked. I didn’t have my cell to gain entry to the house through the garage door, and the front door had the inside safety chain installed. Had to get a pry bar to break this lock to get into the house. Don’t buy this lock or you may regret it.

Good product overall
Happy that I have them, I have two. Very functional and useful. Install was not too bad, just need to make sure too follow the instructions carefully.Would be nice if they were wifi, and on the network, versus just Bluetooth.One problem is that they lose connectivity, sometimes they just don’t react, even when the batteries are fully charged. Just keep your phone with you on the same side of the door, to remote unlock them through Bluetooth. Or have the physical key hidden somewhere you can get to.
