Ghome wall plugs are the best i have them hooked up to my table lamps in the man cave,they come on at sunset and can be operated by voice control and much more i love them

These are great little smart sockets! I have about a dozen and use them to turn the lights on and off to save on electricity, added security, comfort, and not having to run around to turn lights on/off! If they were ‘dimmable’…even better. App is decent, can control from anywhere, and they work with ‘Alexa’…

Worked, But Not For Me
This product isn’t for me. I did load the app, add the device to my network, power my printer off and on via the app. It needs a power cycle after a long sleep or it won’t AirPrint.But there are so many security issues with the set up process, starting with launching the app selector from the QR code to the company website to then trust a launch to the App Store for your platform, and continuing through all the various access the set up wants (location, network access/scan, Bluetooth, live activities). I don’t think this is in any way specific to this product, but I thought this had the chance to be less of a risk.I configured as guest, despite warnings I’d be feature-restricted. And I enabled one service at a time as I iterated through set up until succeeding. I completed without enabling live activities.As an iPhone user I read the app reviews which consistently mention pop-up ad bombardment but I didn’t experience that. I understand there’s a more vetted app you can use.The packaging is well done if not cute, the included instructions are readable. If this product and all the set up flow and ongoing operation are models of good network behavior then my hat is off to this company, because I can see the polish of the package, with only an occasional mistake.But there are too many opportunities for misbehavior in this category, once I got into the set up, which is well documented these days between companies and even countries.On a different note regarding language, is once the device is added and appears on the app, it says Power On. Does that mean power IS on? Or click this TO power it on? It’s the former. Why can’t we just get a verb that says Power Is On?That’s not a security issue, but suffice it to say if you’re going to use these plugs there may be very good reason to place these in a DMZ subnet isolated from your regular, trusted network. Your phone would need to be able to talk to the smart plug in one LAN, and the device, if, say, you AirPrint to it, in a different, trusted LAN. Though this may be a model citizen product, less than model citizens depend on unsophisticated customers using products out of convenience.Giving the benefit of the doubt on security, I still don’t like providing so much access when I don’t think it’s needed.

Short on features, set-up issues
Pros:* inexpensive* works with Google Nest and AlexaCons:* control issues* requires 3rd party app* feature poor* doesn’t support Matter smart home standard* doesn’t work with Apple smart home system (HomeKit)* can’t fit 2 next to each otherOne of my major dislikes about these is they require installing yet another app to set them up and for some features. This is slightly mitigated by the fact they can be used with the Smart Life app (which supports many different smart home & IoT devices) in addition to the GHome app (which appears to be a reskinned Smart Life app specialized to support GHome devices).Of the first set I received, only 1 could be set up. The other couldn’t be set up automatically or manually, by either the GHome or Smart Life apps (both failed to connect to the smart plug’s Wi-Fi hotspot). I received replacement plugs, and again the automatic process failed for 1, though the manual process succeeded. The manual process doesn’t take long. Once the plugs were online, the app had difficulties connecting to them to control them. Sometimes there was a delay turning the plug on or off, and sometimes the app wouldn’t open the controls for a plug. I didn’t notice a delay when controlling them with Alexa or Google Nest.As for use, they’re rather simple. They can be used to turn things on & off. They do not monitor power usage. They’re a little large, so 2 won’t fit in adjacent outlets.
