Powerful & Simple keyless dock lock device that works with existing doors
Overview – This is a Akagear “Smart Deadbolt” door lock system combines the practical use of keypad entry along with a conventional key type entry. The unit is simple to install and operate. The unit doesn’t utilize WIFI, Bluetooth, or any phone/computer interface to program or operate. The front metal face trim is a durable and stylish with that blends well with existing door hardware.Install – Our install was replacing an existing front door lock assembly. The install was completed in around 30 minutes. After removing the old lock assembly, the existing holes in the door matched exactly with the Akagear system. The install and operating instructions were easy to read and follow. This user guide opened like a small map that allowed you to view single sections or open to the full view of the entire guide. The user guide was full of pictorial renderings and also actual photos. It was done in color and that helped accent a lot of different aspects of points of detail in the instructions. The was probably the best manual I have every utilized for furniture and home improvement projects. The instructions had somewhat of a home repair magazine article feel to it.Programming – It about 15 minutes after the install was completed, the programming was done. All of the programming is done from the entry keypad. The instructions details different functions you need to add in a graphical/symbol step by step format. You can add multiple access codes that are unique for all different users of the unit. You can add a one time use code for repair people or similar access. During the programming at the key pad it was easy to follow the manual steps and the unit talked you through the steps as you went through it.Operation – You can lock the door from the outside by hitting the lock symbol on the keypad. A code is not required to lock the door. You lock the door from the inside by turning the level that is typical on most door locks. There is also a button on the inside that is a privacy setting that will lock out keypad users until you decide to override by unlocking the door to reset. The keypad does illuminate and is easy to see without any other lights during the operation to lock or unlock. The keypad will communicate through the speaker that the door is locked or the code is incorrect. The mechanism of the lock is very smooth and precise as it locks or unlocks the door. The unit operates on 4 AA batteries.Warranty – The unit has a lifetime mechanical and finish warranty. The electronics has a 1 year warranty.Support – Akagear has dedicated phone number in the manual, email, and a website to address support related issues.Appearance – The metal finish on the outside trim is strong and has style. The keys have a high end rubber feel that is nice to the touch. The light illuminates through the keys and also adds a high end touch. The appearance of the unit does a good job balancing function without dominating the outside of the door.I rate this product as 5-stars in all aspects of this quality product. I think the lack of a phone or computer wifi interface is a positive in that you security of your home would not be compromised.

Great easy to use product
This lock was easy to install, looks great and the functionality is great. Will be a nice alternative to access basement door when we don’t always have keys. Buttons are easy to press and visually clean. Instructions are clear and the template is very helpful. I anticipate buying more of these locks for other doors and for other properties. The product appears well made. The packaging was great as well, very secure and all pieces were included in the box that we needed for installation. Will report back on battery life, as we have not had it long enough to know how long the life is and how frequently they need to be replaced. The fit on the door was also very good, snug and clean. Overall, I’d say good value for the money. Came with two keys as well.

All’s well that ends well.
I bought three of these for.my house. Two of the three work flawlessly. The third one will not let me delete the factory set programming code which is essential in order to program your own user code. Aggravating to be sure, but, I use it with their programming code as my user code. Installation was easy, instructions were adequate, units were priced right.Update: Someone’s paying attention at AkaGear!Tara from AkaGear reached out to me after seeing my initial review of the locks.As I indicated, 2 of the 3 locks worked great. The third one was unprogrammable. I used it anyway using the factory programming code as my user code. I was disappointed with this solution but lived with it. AkaGear wanted to correct the issue. They sent me a new lock, free of charge, and it is working perfectly!I love the locks. They’re easy to install, look good, function as expected and priced right. And with customer service like this, there is no reason not to consider AkaGear when upgrading to digital locks. Thank you Tara and thank you AkaGear! Job well done!

Good Value but difficult to Program.
1. Quality of lock seems as good as KwikSet lock I’ve had in the past.2. Customer support was responsive and helpful.3. Installation was easy.4. Setup with user codes, programming codes, and fingerprints was difficult from both the App and the keypad. I’m a reasonably technical person that works in the PC industry and I found it frustrating. My wife is not technical and the FPR is frustrating to her.5. FPR is “so so” and rarely works on first attempt.6. Only the DS10 Pro can be programmed via the mobile app. Make sure you understand if you are getting DS10 Pro or simply DS10 when placing your order. My first shipment was a DS10 Pro. When I placed a second order for back door and garage door it was shipped with DS10 – NOT Pro. So now my app only has two of the three devices.7. Honestly the app is not great as it is mean to manage many items.8. Value in my opinion is very good at this price point. I would have spent twice as much on Schlage or KwikSet with similar or less features.9. I really like the ability to automatically program the lock to activate when you close the door. Very nice feature.

Fantastic door lock! Not only did it take like 20 minutes but was easy to follow the instructions step by step. I love the combination options I now have for this thing! Also the color is nice, makes me feel like I need a new door to go with it!So the reason we bought this was because we were already struggling to get the previous lock to lock without slamming the door. Once we changed it out with this one, it locks so smoothly and it even tells you it’s locked! Good feature i think for letting someone know someone’s home now. We’ve been able to lock our door more often and unlocking is so much more a breeze! Honestly, this door lock has met all my needs and I’m hoping to get the most out of it and would highly recommend!P.s. first time setting up something electrical like these even if battery operated made me nervous but I’m glad this is the lock I choose to explore with.
