As someone who has struggled with the poor battery life of an older iRobot model, I found the Narwal Ultra X to be a game-changer. Its unique features and reliable performance place it in a league of its own.App ExperienceThe initial app syncing and connection process was a bit cumbersome. The app could be clearer about the sequence of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, which took longer than expected. Once set up, however, the app’s clean design was pleasing. One improvement I’d suggest is allowing the app to use the system’s default font size and adhere to the light/dark mode settings. Additionally, adding a security feature such as Face ID to lock the app would provide peace of mind. I’m uncomfortable with any device accessing my home router without adequate security controls.Performance and FeaturesThe Narwal Ultra X’s performance is where it truly shines. After mapping my house, which features hardwood flooring and several area rugs, I tested it with both vacuuming and mopping. The vacuum noise level is comparable to my old iRobot, but the Narwal Ultra X boasts much higher suction power. It handled long hairs on the floor effortlessly, a particularly impressive feature.This was my first experience with a robot mop, and I was amazed by its cleaning power. It performed on par with the steam mop I typically use, significantly reducing the amount of manual labor required. The floor detergent that comes with it has a refreshing lemon scent, adding to the overall cleaning experience.Innovation and Daily UseCombining a vacuum and mop in a single unit is innovative, especially for someone like me who is new to such advanced robotic cleaning solutions. While robot vacuums are common and robot mops are available, the Narwal Ultra X’s integration of both functions in one device is impressive. Despite the slightly cumbersome product name, the Narwal Ultra X certainly nails it in terms of functionality and convenience.I plan to let the Narwal Ultra X automatically run daily to maintain my floors. After longer use, I may update this review to provide further insights into its performance and durability.Overall, the Narwal Ultra X is a fantastic addition to any home. It offers efficient cleaning and impressive design features that make it a worthwhile investment. To keep the cost down, you just need to buy it when it is on sale.

We have had our Narwal for about a month now and all I can say is WOW!!! I am blown away by three things.1. The way the roller brush captures animal hair is mind blowing. We have an Irish Wolfhound that leaves hair throughout the house. Since we started using this, there is barely anything on the ground (daily cleaning) and have yet to have a brush tangle.2. The mop function is incredible. This vacuum/map does such an amazing job on our floors. Every morning we wake up to spotless floors.3. This thing is quiet. I actually like the fact that there is no dust bin capture in the base. It’s so quick an easy to empty that it’s really not an issue. You can barely hear the thing while it’s cleaning the house. Truly impressed. The loudest part is when it cleans the mops, but even then it’s not that loud.Setup was fairly easy, but as others have mentioned, connecting to your Wifi for the first time can be a challenge. It found my Wifi, I entered the password, but it wouldn’t finish the setup. I just ended up force closing the app and opened it back up, started the process again and it went through.Mapping the house was fairly easy, but I did notice a few errors it made and had to remap a few times. Not a big deal as it’s a very fast process. I ended up putting down fake cardboard walls to help it separate certain rooms (rather than making it one giant room). Seemed to fix the problem. I also had to cover a few mirrors in the house as it though there was a secret portal into another dimension! LOLThe app for the most part is intuitive and easy to use. Mapping a second floor is a PITA, and it does not work the same as it does for the first floor. You can only select an entire area rather than an individual room. Also, I can’t figure out how to tell it to mop on the second floor as it needs it’s base. Luckily for us we have mostly carpet on the second floor.Customer support is non existent so don’t get your hopes up. I have emailed there team a few times and still no response. I have also tried the Reddit Forum and you get a response, but they tell you to email their CSR team and you fall into a never ending cycle of ‘NO SUPPORT’. All of my issues have to do with the APP and not about the machine itself… just an FYI. Repair support may be faster.As for the machine and base itself. It’s a premium robot vacuum and it is hands down the nicest looking of the bunch. We also got the auto water exchange system and it works like a dream. If you can plumb it in, make the purchase. You won’t regret it!

I want to love this product so much but it just isn’t doing the job. I have a very thin ruggable rug and it seems to just pile a lot of dirt on the edge. At first it kept getting stuck but I’ve tapped down the edges but still a problem remains. It is very sleek and stylish and when there are no obstacles like rugs or cabinets it does clean quite well. My $200 vacuum did a better job.

I purchased the Narwal Freo X after doing A LOT of research. It is the first time we invested in a robot vacuum and we figured that it would make sense to go for a more comprehensive, all-in-one solution. We live in a townhouse with 2 floors and all hardwood flooring. Here’s my pros and cons list:Pros:- The unit is VERY smart. The mapping is very effective and accurate. It maps the environment accurately, navigates obstacles with ease and avoids stairs successfully- The mopping for hardwood floors adds so much value than just a regular vacuum. After the first use I couldn’t really tell the difference between my own cleaning (vacuuming + mopping) and the robot’s- I like the fact that it cleans the mops after every use- It detects rugs correctly and boosts the vacuum power accordinglyCons:- In a multi-story house, you’re limited to mopping only a certain amount of square footage before needing to return the robot to the base for mop cleaning. Since we placed the base in the 1st floor, that means doing one bedroom at a time upstairs which while not ideal, it is very manageable. I could also vacuum the whole upstairs in one go but I just rather not.- My strongest point of frustration was actually with the mobile app user experience. It took me a long time to figure out how to configure the robot to operate in a multi map environment. The navigation of the app is not intuitive and it almost feels like it was made for desktop and poorly converted to mobile. It is usable, but definitely not intuitive.- The price tag is not the cheapest but I feel like the value is there. It is a high end product after all.
