Good, inexpensive espresso machine but NEED TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.
I have no financial benefit from this review. After reading negative/positive reviews for this Neretva Espresso Coffee Machine – 1/2 Cups/Frother, I decided to purchase. Although I’ve only had it since 8/27/25 (writing this review 8/31), I am convinced the bad reviews are because the buyers didn’t read the instructions. This was obvious to me because of complaints about the “error messages” and water exiting the steam wand. I was not familiar with espresso machines, and am new at wanting to learn how to brew espresso and other coffee beverages, so had to also look at You Tube videos after reading the instruction booklet that comes with the machine. After experimenting since the machine was delivered, today I was able to make a Flat White. I had several failures using the frother/steam wand. So, there was a learning curve for me. Although I have only been using this machine for 5 days, I am very pleased with my purchase and recommend for anyone who doesn’t want to spend more than $100. I would give the warming tray a “D”, but everything else an “A”. Instead of the warming tray, I pour boiling water in my cup (and empty prior to brewing the espresso), while I’m getting everything ready. The suction cups are very strong, so I decided to put the machine on a small, hard placemat, as it’s much easier to move the placemat around than to unstick the suction cups from the counter top to move it around. Also, I needed to purchase a metal pitcher to steam/froth the milk per You Tube videos. Because this is an inexpensive machine and because Neretva does not have a brick/mortar I can call directly, I purchased a 4-yr. warranty.I learned through the internet Neretva has been around since 2008, but it’s a global, e-commerce, brand that manufactures and sells a range of small, electric kitchen appliances, mainly through Amazon and Walmart, to consumers who want convenient, affordable appliances for making coffee, bread and a few other foods at home. I have no clue as a consumer how to contact them; hence, the warranty.9/10/25 Update: I still recommend this espresso machine, but wanted to offer a tip due to what happened to me this morning making my daily espresso. I set everything up to just plug in the machine and press the button before I left for about an hour to do my daily laps in the pool. When I came home, I plugged in the machine and pressed the power button while I took a quick shower. Ten minutes later I was ready for my espresso so pushed the 2 shot button, waited and during what I call the countdown, nothing happened. I did this again, and no espresso came out. Reviewed the Trouble Shooting page. Quickly I realized that the water tank was empty, went through the process again with a full water tank, but the machine did not produce any espresso. Then I removed the Portafilter (which was in correctly) and saw a few coffee grounds on the rim of the Portsfilter (which I hadn’t noticed when I got everything ready). I thought “Surely a few grounds wouldn’t prevent the machine from working?”, but I brushed off the grounds with a very small paint brush I use for this purpose, put the Portafilter into position and VOILA, got my cup of espresso. One might not want a machine that is so sensitive. Okay; I get it. Then spend more money. For me, I’d rather discover the quirks. Just thought this info might be helpful.

This machine paid for itself in 2 months!
I am a big caramel latte fan and I was volunteering at my church and they were using this espresso machine on a special Father’s Day event. I decided to purchase one and I have been thrilled with the results of my lattes. One of the things I would recommend is the need to follow the directions carefully and prep the machine ahead of time. Every single time that I’ve used this machine I’ve had perfect shot of espresso for my lattes. It paid for itself in a period of two months I used to go to a local coffee shop and I was spending 6 to 7 dollars for the same latte and now I make my own homemade caramel and use the shots from this machine and I have been so excited with the taste. I’m not sure what other people are experiencing but for me, this machine is excellent. One of the things I will say is after every use I thoroughly wash the machine parts with soap and water, and wipe down the inside of the espresso machine. It did not disappoint from my perspective.

    So far so good
Solid for the price. Makes a great espresso. The frother SCREAMS when your milk is cold and just starting to warm up. I found one of the listing pictures to be misleading and wanted to clarify. The temperature displayed on the machine is the temperature of the machine. The picture that shows milk being frothed with the temperature displayed is not correct. It does not measure the temperature of the milk as you froth it, which was the reason I bought this one. If anyone else is under the same impression, be aware. While the machine is brewing espresso or frothing milk, it actually displays the number of seconds that have elapsed, not the temperature. I do find that to be a helpful feature because I know I have to froth my milk for about 90 seconds to get it to the right temperature. But it’s not quite as helpful as if it measured the milk temperature as shown.

    GREAT… After some modification!
This espresso machine is amazing, and it’s my new favorite thing, however, the portafilter it comes with has a PLASTIC insert, which hot coffee passes through… that can’t be healthy and I didn’t like that.. so I removed it. But then when I ran the machine, the coffee was way too watery and weak…After going down some rabbit holes and doing some research, that plastic insert’s purpose is to build up pressure in the portafilter so that you can get decent espresso from coarse, cheap ground coffee. Fine, that’s cool, but I don’t want to drink hot coffee that’s been ran through plastic. So here’s the solution, and a huge improvement to get amazing espresso with this machine:Get a coffee grinder that can FINELY grind coffee beans. You want the coffee to be like a flour consistency. Then you pack the finely ground coffee into the basket of the portafilter and tamp it down firmly. After I did this, I get plenty of pressure and extraction, meaning my espresso is amazing out of this machine. It always has plenty of “crema” and rich strong flavor. Our house smells amazing every morning. The heat level is great and the milk steamer on the side of this machine works well – takes about 50 seconds to get it HOT.I give this thing 5 stars because for only $100 and some easy modification, this machine is amazing.

I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this machine, and I can confirm that this product is definitely underestimated. For the price point, it pulls excellent espresso shots, even when using basic store-bought coffee. Some reviewers mentioned difficulty using the machine or fixing the steam wand, but honestly, everything is straightforward if you read the instructions or browse through other reviews here on Amazon. With freshly ground beans, the espresso tastes as good as shots from a professional machine.I actually compared my espresso at home with ones from Starbucks and two local cafés, and mine tasted even better. I no longer need to spend money daily on coffee when I can make it at home with this machine. I forgot to mention that always do double shots, the crema you get from it is delicious.A few people also complained about not being able to pull more than three shots, but I had no problem pulling four — one single, two doubles, and another single back-to-back. No issues with anything! The only part that took me a little time to get used to was the steam wand, since I’m a beginner. What really helped were the reviews mentioning that as soon as you are done pulling your first espresso shots and you want to add milk and you want to froth, the moment you click on “Steam wand,” the machine automatically raises its temperature for frothing. It will raise it until you can start frothing. When you’re done frothing your milk and want to pull another espresso shot, just purge a bit of water from the wand to lower the temperature especially if you just finished using the steam wand — once the shot buttons stop blinking, you can brew again. That tip made everything easy.I also loved the packaging — clean and well-presented. The machine comes with the basic accessories you need, so you don’t have to buy extras right away. It’s very easy to clean, ergonomically designed, and while it might feel a little light, it’s nowhere near as “cheap” as some people claim. For the price, you’re getting top-notch performance and quality. One funny thing — I wasn’t sure how to turn off the machine at first! I know you might laugh at it and I claimed that I read the whole manual, but for some reason the turning off was not as intuitive for me because it is the same button as the 1 shot espresso. You actually have to hold down the first shot button (the one with the power symbol) to power it off. Don’t just press it, or you’ll end up making another espresso shot by accident… happened to me twice😄Forget your Keurig or Nespresso — those are inferior to this little powerhouse and cost more. I truly appreciate all the reviews that helped me decide, and I hope mine helps for others to decide for themselves to give this espresso machine a chance. You won’t be disappointed. If your budget is tight but you still want great coffee, this is by far the best espresso machine for the price. I’m saving so much money by skipping the coffee shops.Purchased on October 2nd — I’ll update this review in a few months with longer-term feedback, but so far, I’m extremely impressed. I have attached some pictures for your reference. The picture with the shots, I was using store bought Van Houtte- dolce crema espresso ground coffee.

Great machine. Finally another option besides Keurig or Nespresso. Taste is far superior than that of any single serve machine and it doesn’t take any longer to make a great cup of coffee. Fast heating, quiet and expensive looking. Only negative is that with less than 4 inches between portafilter and tray, there isn’t enough room for a mug.

I have had this machine for about 3 weeks and I LOVE it. I have made espresso before with a machine at my office, so I had a little bit of experience making them, but not a lot. I had to experiment with different beans, but I can now make a very good iced latte – which was my goal. I did invest in a better tamper (a metal one with some weight to it) and that improved the puck quite a bit. Also, I started with a medium grind, and slowly went to a finer grind until it got too fine, then I narrowed it down until I hit the sweet spot. This machine is simple to use, and if you watch a couple of videos, you will get the hang of it pretty quickly. I have a very small kitchen and this little unit is nice and compact, and does everything that I need it to.

I love this espresso maker! Just what i needed. Small in size, works great, aesthetically pleasing. Some tips, the grounds need to be a medium grind. Too fine, water cannot make it through well and a super wet puck, too course coffee too weak for me. Medium grind perfect!! Also fill the coffee grounds to top level and press down, if not fill to top it gets a super wet puck. But once i figured that out a perfect cup every time and the milk frother is fab! So happy with my purchase

Not a horrible machine.Pros; compact size, and does make a nice tasting espresso.Cons; barely can make one latte as the machine heats up and errors out, need to shutdown and let cool before you can make a second shot or latte. The one and two shot cups that fit into the porta filter do not fit in securely, and fall out too easily causing the grounds to spill out.Not of good quality, I will hold onto it until I can find a suitable replacement, but I can’t imagine it lasting a year or so.
