A roomba that actually works as advertised!
Amazon has been on my rear about leaving a review for this, but I wanted time to make sure it would work as advertised for at least a month. My previous model was also a Shark, model number RV9133S1US. It came straight from the manufacturer, brand new, and it was a waste of money. The lack of sensors created a lot of problems; it would bump into every single thing and never really seemed to make a concrete map of the house. We never could get the grid mapping to work, so it was the “bump” feature all the way. The bumps were loud and rough, and that roomba loved to climb things it couldn’t, such as our elliptical and treadmill (while it was folded up). The brushes fell off very easily, and Shark didn’t make official replacements. The replacements from third parties, while affordable, weren’t good fits, so that added to the aggravation. When we got new dining chairs, one of the brushes got stuck and the base that held it in place cracked and fell off. The battery died after one year and limited use (due to it ultimately being more annoying than helpful), and it was one of those cases where it was cheaper to get a new roomba.After a lot of looking and waiting for a good sale, we got the RV2820AE. Let me tell you, this thing is a miracle compared to the RV91331US. The sensors actually work, it actually maps the house, it doesn’t run into my furniture like a small robot drunk driver, and the grid mapping works! It has one brush and I’m okay with that because the suction is strong enough to pick up any dust and debris that gets stuck between our 140 year old hardwood floors. Oh, and it returns to the dock when the battery is low. The previous one NEVER did that and would just bump around until the battery died! The app is solid yet simple, and it (the app) communicates well, although a tad slow, with the roomba. Being able to select individual rooms for cleaning is also a huge improvement. I’m so impressed to get this quality from a refurbished model!And as a side note, because this is so annoying to see: PLEASE remember to tidy up your floors and do a proper vacuum before setting it on its first voyage to make a map of the house. I’ve seen people treat this like a heavy duty vacuum to clean up after their 2 kids and 3 shaggy haired dogs, and a roomba simply cannot do that. I have birds and need to collect their feathers before vacuuming; the roomba would definitely get clogged if I didn’t. Just keep in mind that this is a helpful robot vacuum to have between major cleanings, it’s not the Shark NV360 Navigator (which I would recommend for people with fluffy pets and messy kids).

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I’ve owned one of these remote vacuums from day one. I’m no expert, I’ve replaced a few over the years prematurely after they have ran over some pet excitement, since owned a few of each major brand. I’ve always been generally happy with their performance, but there’s always been a frustration or two, or direct shortcomings of their advertising. This is the first one that I’ve bought that does what it says. I see more options on other units, but I’m happy with my purchase. This thing cleans the rooms I ask it to clean, spot cleans the spots I direct it to, and it does everything very well on my hard surface floors.  

Need 2.4 g wi fi to work
This vac only works with a 2.4 g wi fi, nothing else. There’s nothing in the description. That says that. So, I bought this one and we have 5 g only. So I have to decide what to do, can anybody help????
