Instead of sounding an alarm, the motion sensor sends a wireless signal to a pager carried by the caregiver (clipped to a belt or inside a pocket). This allows the caregiver to be notified wherever they are without disturbing residents. When positioned along the bedside the fall monitor will alarm as the resident attempts to vacate the bed. (extendable bracket is sold separately). Wireless sensor operates on 3 AA batteries. Pager operates on 2 AA batteries. Batteries not included.Optional AC Adapter: AC-04. A silent wireless signal is sent to the caregiver pager up to 300 ft away.

Absolute necessity for elderly monitoring
Have two of these alarms and we could not be more pleased! One is dedicated to keeping an eye on our elderly parent in bed. The other unit is for when parent is watching TV in family room and we are outdoors gardening, in the barn or mowing. The alarm sound component is portable. We slip it in a pocket or just place it where we’re working. We can hear the alarm chime in a pocket over the tractor noise – great for when parent moves or needs our help. We mow about an acre and the unit has no issues covering this area.We use these great little monitors in conjunction with radio wave baby monitors (we never use wifi monitors due to hacking privacy issues). Our elderly parent is monitored while we are going about household chores by day and during the night.Five years of 24/7 use these monitors are still reliable. They are easy on batteries. We’ve only changed batteries out twice in three years. The unit actually lets you know when the batteries need changing – the alarm starts to sound like a creature from the outer limits. Please note the two alarm sound choices are somewhat sappy, and very loud. That’s actually a great feature if you are a sound sleeper or on a tractor. We keep the alarm unit outside our bedroom as it’s a bit startling when it goes off. We’re ordering a couple more units as spares. We also use the gardening unit to keep an eye on our open (and locked) sliding screen door, just in case a visitor comes there instead of the front door.Unit is simple, low cost, so far completely reliable, no wifi to mess with, no apps, just your ears being alerted if your patient is moving. Kudos to the manufacturer.Highly recommend!

This is the bed alarm to get!
This alarm is great! My 93-year-old mom felll on the way to the bathroom one night and it didn’t wake my brother up so she spent some time on the floor before he found her so I bought two of these – one for her house where she lives with my brother and one for my house because she spends half her time with me. I love that there is no pad she has to sleep on that might be uncomfortable or set the alarm off every time she shifts her weight. With this one we just set the sensor on the floor near the head of the bed and when she puts her feet on the floor to get up at night it goes off. I also love that there’s no alarm in her room to scare her. They used a bed sensor when she’s been in the hospital before and it set off a blaring alarm right by her head. If you want to MAKE an elderly person fall, just scare the crap out of them when they try to get up at night! The pager with this one is wonderful. It has two settings – alarm and chime. I don’t love the idea of waking up to an alarm at night but the chime setting is fine. It makes a “ding-dong” noise just like the door chime when you enter some stores. The pager is extremely loud and doesn’t have a volume control but my brother and I just close it in the drawer next to our beds – I wrap mine in a washcloth too – and then it’s perfect. Plenty loud to wake us without startling us or waking the whole house. I also like that it only goes off as long as she’s breaking the beam so it doesn’t chime endlessly or have to be reset every time it’s set off. As soon as she steps out of the beam, the chime stops. The sensor and the pager each work on two AA batteries which is also nice because nothing needs to be plugged in. I just have to remember to turn them on at bedtime and off in the morning. This system works great and is so inexpensive it could be used anywhere you want to track someone’s movements. It would be a good crib alarm too if you have a baby who climbs out. I might even get one to put across my daughter’s window at night so I don’t have to worry about someone breaking into her room. There could be lots of uses for this wonderful little system.

Good product, dependable
Was just thinking how I have had this pager system for 9 years and it is still going strong. So glad we found it, perfect for use as a full-time caregiver. Don’t know if the new ones are as good. My only complaint is wishing it had more than just two alarm sounds (One of which is an annoying police car noise we never use.)

Nearly Perfect!
Very sensitive with good remote range and works well for auntie with Alzheimer’s. I keep it aimed over the top of the bed while she’s sleeping or napping. After taping over portions of the lense and sussing out the just-right-spot, I almost never get false alarms due to her raising a leg or an arm while lying down. (If not for her small dog that visits her in bed often, I’d just aim the transmitter along the floor by the bed, greatly simplifying things.)Definitely spring for the 110 VAC wall plug, and stop worrying about battery life.I took off a star for two reasons.1-the remote has two alarms positions and the off (silence) position, selectable via a sliding switch. The switch slides from Alarm 1 (quite loud and do-able, think of the alarm that the door at a 7/11 makes when you go in or out), then Off, then Alarm 2 (a very loud, annoying sea-chantey thing that goes what feels like forever). When the thing alarms, and you’re heading for auntie’s bedside, it’s very easy to slide the switch from the alarmingly loud Alarm 1, PAST the “off” position and into the horrifyingly loud (and don’t forget long and annoying) Alarm 2. If your Alzheimer’s-suffering auntie spent her early career crewing in square-rigged commercial sailing vessels, this loud, perky, sea chantey could spark some comforting bit of nostalgia for her, otherwise, it’s completely loud and possibly disturbing. To fix this I glued a very short section of a wooden skewer stick into the Alarm 2 part of the switch, so now I can silence the alarm by feel while on the run.2- The main transmitter is housed in a nice “rockable” bracket, and comes with some double-back sticky tape for mounting the thing precisely where you need it. Unfortunately, you loose most if the rockability and mountability when you plug the 110 AC adapter into the back. Just be aware of that.Overall, I’m thrilled with this low-cost solution to everyone getting a little shut-eye around here.

Works well. The sensitivity zone is quite large leading to false positives. Eg wind blown curtain moves.Need to experiment with placement.Wish that there would be a movement sensitivity setting like that of auto lights.

An excellent Gazette for caregiver to Elders. My mother is 93yrs old, she is a case of Senile Dementia/Alzheimer’s.I have installed this Gazette near her bed , so whenever she awake and about to leave the bed , this Gazette sounds immediately and makes me alert to help her , otherwise she may fall and can get injured.Even at night if you are sleeping , the beep awakes you and make you alert. This is a must for your loved one’s who are quite old and always require help by some one/Caregiver , so that they should not remain unattended.Packing was too good and batteries were already installed.

This is used in a bedroom for my mother who has dementia. I have it mounted so that if she starts to walk towards the end of the bed (usually to go to the bathroom), the pager will sound at someone can watch and make sure she does not fall. The pager is quite loud so it was places in a shelf with clothes on top so that it is not too loud at night. It works very well and is doing it’s job. I did purchase an optional power adapter for the main unit so that it does not need battery replacements. The power adapter is: HQRP AC Adapter for Kerr AC-04 PDUR41120-50 Smart Caregiver Power Supply Cord + HQRP Euro Plug Adapter
