    Easy set up.
The LOUYSGEN Smart Wall Outlet is a quick and easy way to add 2 smart outlets to one’s smart home system.I wanted to add several Alexa controlled outlets to a plug that already has one smart outlet and when I found this outlet I wanted to try and use it for an extension.I mounted the outlet into an appropriate electrical utility box. Using a properly sized 3 conductor cord I wired the outlet to the box. After plugging the outlet in the two green standby lights came on. Using the capacitive touch pads I could activate each plug manually. I used the SmartLife App to find the outlets and within a few minutes not only did the outlets get discovered as Switch 1 and Switch 2 then Alexa picked up the SmartLife Skill and connect to the outlets. Alexa now will voice control either outlet independently which is exactly what I wanted. It was almost too simple to believe. My sole reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the way that the top plate mounts is not ideal. One needs to gently insert a screwdriver into one of the slots of the side of the plate and gently persuade it off. The opposite side needs to snap in for the whole top plate to be secure. Also I have experienced difficulty getting a plug into the outlet. The sliding internal plug block is binding up and I have to jiggle the plug. Hopefully this won’t be a problem going forward.

Easy setup, but requires an app with an account to use with Alexa
This socket is super easy to wire up and install. It fits in a regular, single-gang electrical box, and it has its own cover plate. You cannot use your own cover due to touch controls on the surface. This also means that it can’t go into a multi-gang box with other outlets. There is a small square next to each plug that allows you to turn each plug on and off independently. I seems kind of backwards that the square is red when the outlet is on and green when it is off. The outlets themselves have child safety blocks that make it hard to plug into. They require you to wiggle the plug up and down to fit them all the way in, especially the last quarter inch.Setting up the outlet requires downloading an app called SmartLife. I was able to connect without setting up an account, but it reminds me I should sign up for an account every time I open the app. The app found the plug on my wifi network with no issues, and it allows me to set timers and other things to control the outlet automatically. When I tried to add the plugs on Alexa, the SmartLife app actually required me to set up an account. It was pretty easy to do, and Alexa added a total of 9 devices. There was one device for the whole outlet, and then there was a device listed for each plug. The other six devices appeared to be other plugs and USB options that are not included on my specific 2 plug outlet. I had to delete each one in my Alexa app so they wouldn’t show up in my device list.

Nice looking Smart Wall Outlet, but not for every application
I wanted to install this Smart Wall Outlet in my shop to monitor the power used by an electric heater that is used in the winter, but I found that the outlet is rated for only 10 Amps. I do not want to exceed the current rating of the electrical components in the outlet and create a fire hazard so I could not use the outlet as planned to monitor the power usage of my heater since the heater draws more than 10 Amps. My second thought was to use it to monitor the power used on my workbench that has my ham radios, computers, monitors and etc., but the wall electrical box had several connections and the smart outlet would not fit into the box. The Smart Wall Outlet is much larger than a conventional electrical outlet.I ended up installing the outlet in a metal electrical box connected to the end of a short extension cord. This will allow me to monitor power consumption and also remotely turn ON and OFF various appliances and other electrical devices as needed. It was simple to connect the Smart Wall Outlet to the Smart Home App that was already installed on my smart phone. I added the Tuya Local integration to my Home Assistant to integrate the Smart Outlet into Home Assistant. Home Assistant makes it super easy to add control based upon time or almost any other event.Overall, this is a good concept, but most houses are wired for either 15 Amp or 20 Amp outlets; therefore, this outlet is not a good replacement in most situations. The cover plate simply snaps on instead of being held on with a screw as are most standard electrical outlets. This could be a problem because the clips for the cover do not seem to grip very tightly to the outlet. The outlet works okay, but due to the low current limits, its large size that prevents it from fitting into boxes with lots of wiring and the method used to attach the cover plate I can only give it three (3) stars.

Not plug and play – Need to be electrically installed
First – the main problem I have is 100% all my fault. I’m a dork and did not realize the install required for use. I had thought that I could plug it in over the current outlet. That is not true. You need to remove the existing outlet and install this one.The first place I wanted to use this was to see the electrical usage for our small bathroom heater. However, it does not seem that there is a GFCI on this outlet so using it in the bathroom is a no-go. My second idea was to see how much power the coffee pot and microwave pull. Again, my husband noticed a problem. Given the power draw of our microwave, the smart outlet isn’t going to be able to handle running at full power. So, as of now, we have not actually installed the outlet. I can’t do it on my own so I’ll be waiting for when my husband can decide the best place to install.
