Fantastic Matter Outdoor Smart Outlet
I’m extremely impressed with this Matter outdoor smart outlet. From the moment I plugged it in, the setup process was incredibly smooth and simple, easily one of the quickest smart home additions I’ve ever made. A standout feature for me is having two distinct outlets, which can each be controlled completely independently. This level of flexibility is fantastic for managing different outdoor lights or decorations without needing multiple devices. The fact that it operates using Matter over Wi-Fi is a huge plus, ensuring broad compatibility and a straightforward connection. What truly makes this device a winner in my book is its seamless integration with Home Assistant. It connected without a hitch and has been performing perfectly, allowing me to manage my outdoor setup exactly as I want. There’s no need to download or use any additional manufacturer’s app; everything works directly through Home Assistant, which is a major convenience. If you’re looking for a dependable, easy to configure outdoor smart outlet, especially one that plays nice with Home Assistant, I highly recommend this one. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Great individual dual-controlled outdoor smart outlet!
This smart plug works great with HomeKit. I have some outdoor lights that plug into it and it works flawlessly. Having two separate outlets that are independently controlled is a plus! I have this included in an automation routine with other devices and it is perfect! Easy to setup and use, and there is no delay between command and operation. It is holding up nicely to the outdoor elements as well!

Perfectly Suited for Multiple Applications. Energy Savers
These things are heavy duty and easy to use. Bought two to use indoors because they are rated to handle large appliances and they’re elegant in form. Well made, heavy body and cord, clean appearance with solid buttons to control each of two outlets directly or via the Tapo app, Very easy for even a layman to connect to the internet and setup and plenty sensitive to receive full bars even when set behind a metal appliance. I use one to turn on and off a Bunn commercial coffeemaker to save energy and another for a 150w 5-channel amplifier that doesn’t have signal sensing capability. Has worked like a charm, on/off commands via the app whether on a schedule or manually entered on the phone are instantaneous as is status feedback. Only possible improvement would be to make them in the US; otherwise very happy. They are a wise investment to reduce severely inflated electricity costs and manage equipment that isn’t close at hand.

Does the job, seems durable
Integrated easy with other tapo equipment. Quick setup for automation of holiday lights. Compatible with scheduling time based on sunset. Seems to be made well. Probably will pick up another for more zones.

Good outdoor smart plug
Works very well for over a year now. It’s a little sensitive to weak wifi, so make sure you have a strong signal outside where this accessory will be installed. But otherwise the homekit setup, scheduling and everyday use is flawless. Great little smart outdoor plug, definitely recommend.

Reliable and survives the rain
Perfect solution for an outdoor smart plug in the backyard. It survived a full week of rain and still works. Always has a strong Wi-Fi signal, and works with Google Home. Really love it so far.

Easy set up, very flexible configuration, great for my well heat lamp
I needed to put a ceramic heat lamp in my well to keep it from freezing when the temps dropped into teens and single digits. The simplest solution to provide power to that lamp during the few months of the year when it’s needed was to run a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord from a GFI outlet on my covered porch to the lamp. The thing is, it only needed to run during the night–temps got up enough during the day that it didn’t have to be on.The TP-Link Tapo P400 was the perfect match for what I needed. The Tapo plug is very sturdy, very well-built with good covers over the outlets. It’s IP65 rated, so it’s good for outdoor use–but you don’t want to leave it fully out in the rain on or the ground. It has 2 outlets, each of which has its own manual on/off switch and each of which can be configured using the Tapo app (more on that below). It’s also capable of handling a nice load — 1800W / 15A / 1/2hp motor.Setup using TP-Link’s Tapo app was quick and simple. Just install the Tapo app, plug in the outlet, and follow the prompts. You can set up a schedule with multiple turn on/off events at specific times on specific days–I can see how that can be useful for a variety of situations. The fact that the plug has 2 outlets which can be scheduled independently makes that even more useful. One thing that’s especially nice for my specific situation is that you can set on/off events based on the sunset and sunrise. For example, if I know it won’t be cold enough to need the lamp until at least an hour after sunset, I can tell it to turn on an hour after sunset…and the Tapo app will use my location to adjust the time accordingly. Same for sunrise. You can tune that to a very fine degree–a number of hours and minutes before or after either sunrise or sunset. That would also be a great thing to have if you wanted to turn lights on and off. Another thing that’s useful is that I can connect the unit to the TP-Link remote server so that I can turn the outlets on and off when I’m away from home.I’m very pleased with this, exactly what I needed!
