Brilliant smart switch even a little bit expensive!
I am a crazy lover of tropical fish and tried to find a smart home equipment which can help me feed my fish better. This new product named of ubibot SP1 allow me to connect an external probe to monitor my tank’s temperature. When temp drop below 65F, the switch will turn on my heating rod. It also can help me step a daily loop of circulation pump. Easy setup and use. Clear App instruction. If the price of this product can be less than 50 bucks, I will have a few more for my tanks.

ETA #2: This has now completely broken almost exactly one month after purchase. It has gone “offline” yet again except this time, unplugging it and plugging back in does nothing. The network it is connected to works. It has power. There are no diagnostics. I’m throwing it in the trash.Original review:Works but is a pain with no instructions, and a really outdated and obscure UI on the app.The app ui is cumbersome. It is very obscure to figure out how to set up the sensor. It kept telling me no sensor was found in even though I quadruple checked it was indeed plugged in to the correct port. In the end, I had to kill the app for it to detect the sensor. There is no pull down to refresh or pinch to zoom. You have to set your preferred view settings every single time you open the app because it doesn’t remember. Key features are hidden in obscure places (sensor setup is under “misc”) while useless information like “gsm ssri” is the first thing you see (this switch doesn’t even support a SIM so why put that in the first screen?) Just overall, a really poorly though out, cumbersome and outdated interface. The switch itself is bulky. I have wifi thermometer/hygrometer that is less 1/4 the size of this and I have wifi switches that are also 1/4 the size of this. This is at least twice the size it should be and blocks both outlets if you plug it into a wall socket. In the end, it works but it is too expensive for something so outdated and cumbersome, plus you need to shell out even more money for a hygrometer probe. I could use a couple more switches like this but I’ll keep looking.ETA: the device has gone “offline”. I checked the switch. It has power and pushing the physical button turned it on and off. I connected my mobile device to the special network I had to set up just for this switch, I’m able to connect to the internet. I logged into both the app and the desktop console. No help or troubleshooting info to be found anywhere. No documentation or troubleshooting info in the box. Unplugging the it and plugging it back in “fixed” it but the intent of this purchase was so that I could rely on it to do its job when I’m away from home and there is no one around to plug it back in.

App is not easy to use, price too high
I got this “UBiBot SP1 Smart Plug” to try. As a smart plug, this UBiBot’s biggest selling point is the temperature sensing functionality.Let me start with the upsetting part first.- The app is not intuitive to set up. I spent a half day and finally figured out I need to set the customized field so that the plug can read it.- Price is too expensive. It is more expensive than buying smart plug + smart temperature sensor altogether. On the positive side, the app does work with google assistant and amazon alexa.I planned to use it with my AC such that I can control the room temperature. It doesn’t work well for my use case — if I leave home and turns off the AC, the triggering rules will still be active, thus the plug will still turn it on when the temperature is high. I want the AC to stay off when no one is off.Having said that, if your use case requires temperature monitoring 24X7, this sensor might be workable for you. However, getting a smart temperature sensor and plug will be a more affordable way to go. Thus, I’m not recommending this product at this time, unless you can get a deep discount. Thanks for reading this review and I hope you find it helpful.

The app works decently well (ubibot app), as well there is a web interface that has even more options. This smart plug can give you voltage, amps (+watts), usage time, wifi strength and on/off status. Further more if these need to be tweaked for some reason you can do that in the web interface. The plug itself supports custom fields which can be items like temp × usage time. It also supports rs485 protocol, so if you have a sensor running that you can calculate it properly. The kit comes with a temperature probe which adds real temperature to it. To me this is the only reason a consumer would want this I got it for the chicken coop to increase temperature when needed. (Lots of apps will use weather data)As far as I can tell a lot of your data is stored on their servers and there are limits (which I haven’t even come close to approaching). Update intervals for volts, amps, temp, etc, are customizable, but only go down as far as 1 minute in most cases.(as far as I could tell)I believe (although it is nothing I am interested in), you can open your data up to the public. Overall it is very feature rich, it uses a proprietary app and most people won’t use the features. The offline alert worked better than others I’ve used in the past (likely because the data is on their servers?)The barcode sticker on the back identifies your unit. I think this sticker is very important and you won’t want it to get damaged (might be worth writing it down depending on it’s environment). It is a very large plug (as pictured), even if you use the bottom outlet it still basically blocks the top. Side by side outlets may be blocked too.

It advertised micro usb and came with a headphone plug. So I ordered the wrong probes.

I bought that to control the temperature in my chicken coop. The switch doesn’t turn on 50% of the time and for many hours and the temperature goes really low. I contacted the support many times and I decided to trash it in the end. This device doesn’t work locally and everything is in the cloud. It’s so flaky that even in continuous mode (sending the on or off command every 15 minutes for many hours), the switch doesn’t end up in the proper state. The nice part is that it collects so many statistics that the support cannot argue with me that it’s not working. I lost confidence in the brand after many exchanges with the support group when they blame it on my “poor” Wi-Fi signal. But the device can send statistics to the cloud every 15 minutes without ever missing a window. I have two Wi-Fi cameras 4 feet away that work perfectly fine. The high-end access point is 40 feet away in direct line of sight.Don’t buy that to heat your animals.

This UBIBOT Smart Plug isn’t your average one and less user friendly than others, but totally fits my needs. Be sure to hook it to 2.4Ghz Wifi though.I installed a WiFi extender to be able to have this Smart Plug working in my unheated garage. During winter, the garage is usually around 6 degrees warmer than outside. Having a small portable heater on/off is great to decrease humidity level, and having access to live temperature via the Ubibot App is great! I don’t necessary need all the data this probe provides, like voltage, amps, watts, but the usage time, wifi strength and on/off status are useful to me. A lot can be customized on the App.Be advised that the Smart plug is bigger and wider than others, so planning accordingly of its positioning is a must. I added a multi outlets just to be able to use the other outlet!More expensive yes, but comes with more optional data than normal ones.

This is a feature rich smart plug that has worked perfectly to control and monitor power usage of a heater. The plug is well made and comes with a temperature probe. Using the UbiBot APP I was able to configure the plug to turn a heater on and off depending on the temperature of the room. The APP has a ton of features and returns many statistics, including power usage and run times.I like it. It takes a little time to fully understand the plug, buts its capabilities and features are greater than most others. It has worked well for me. It’s a great smart plug that works as described.
