Almost 70% faster than WiFi, reliable connectivity, works great with Plex and media streaming
** UPDATE 8/17/25 **Been about two months, still working great. I saw user Ronnie H posted a review stating he couldn’t get above 89mbps. Suggestion: Make sure the ethernet cable used is rated at least CAT 5e. 89mbps sounds like the speed is being limited by a CAT 5 rated cable (which has max speed of 100mbps). Use at least CAT 5e cable, which supports up to 1000mbps (1 gigabit) speed. That should fix it, good luck!** Original Review **With Amazon Stick 4K Max 2nd gen I was getting about 200mbps via WiFi according to its speed test, about half my internet speed. My mobile phone right next to it was getting the full 400+mbps via speed test, so I think the WiFi chip in this Fire stick is weak. Placement behind the TV likely doesn’t help either. With this ethernet adapter I am now getting 338mbps via a MoCA 2.5 connection (similar to ethernet – uses cable TV cables). This is almost the maximizing my internet speed, I think this is about as fast as it’s going to get with this cheap little Fire TV stick. Very happy with this speed now as it’s almost 70% faster than WiFi. More important than the speed is the stable connectivity and a consistent data rate.I realize 4K video only needs about 25mbps for a smooth streaming experience, but when streaming video from a server like Plex in your home, ethernet (or MoCA) just works better than WiFi. Using MoCA (connected via ethernet), the FireTV stick has a closer, more direct route to the Plex server and hence playback, Fast Forward and Rewind operations are faster. Video plays in about 1-1.5sec instead of 2-3 sec. FF/RW operations are 0.5-1sec instead of 2-3 sec. All operations are improved and it’s a more enjoyable streaming experience.Very pleased with this device! Thank you…

USB to ethernet for firestick
This is a great product. Works straight out of the box. Makes streaming even better especially when the wifi signal is not reliable.

>300/200 Mbps speeds on Firestick 4K
110% happy and more than satisfied with this adapter. Basically every other ethernet adapter made for use with the FireStick uses fast ethernet which limits you to a max speed of 100/100 Mbps even when they advertise speeds of up to 480Mbps (the max speed for the USB port on all Fire Stick and Fire Stick 4k models)–which is just plain dumb. However this adapter ACTUALLY has a gigabit ethernet port that allows you to break the hard 100Mbps cap every other adapter I tried was limited to . If you’re only streaming Netflix or Prime Video 100Mbps is plenty, but I mostly use my FireStick to play stuff from my Plex Server in which case speed quickly becomes an issue when watching Blu-ray REMUX movie rips where the file size can be up to 50GB per movie. And even though the FireStick’s Wifi speeds easily break the 100Mbps limit on most ethernet adapters, there’s just too much lag and buffering over wifi to make watching those kinds of files semi-bearable.Then I stumbled upon this adapter and my prayers were finally answered. As can see in the screenshot I took using a network speed test app on my FireStick 4k , with this adapter I consistently get download speeds of 300-350 Mbps and uploads speeds of 250-280 Mbps (I have Fios gigabit ethernet) which is amazing. Now there isn’t more than a split second of buffering at the very beginning with any movie/videos I watch, even massive blu-ray movie rips. It worked so well I ended up buying additional adapters for every FireStick in my house plus a few for my parents’ Fire Sticks. It’s been about 4 months now since I bought them too without any issues so I feel confident saying the quality of the product matches the excellent performance.(Note: if you’re wondering why the speed isn’t closer to 1000Mbps since the adapter uses a gigabit port, the reason is all FireStick models use USB 2.0 ports for power/wired network connections and USB 2.0 has a max speed of 480 Mbps, which is usually much lower when it comes to real world use–typically you can expect speeds of ~250-300 Mbps or lower for most USB 2.0 devices, at best made 375-400 Mbps if you’re lucky.)

Did not solve my problem.
I bought this to fix intermittent Chromecast connectivity. From less than a meter away, the connection would drop for one second out of each ten or twenty-second interval.Perhaps it is user error, or Chromecast, or the Cable Matters device. The instructions for the Cable Matters device are very generic.I’m throwing out the two Chromecast devices and returning the Cable Matters device. I now use Yamaha MusicCast, which is average for features and better than Chromecast for sound quality. It works anywhere in my house.** Addendum ** After having my Chromecast unplugged from power for two weeks (but the HDMI portion was still plugged into the stereo), I gave it another try. Plugged in with power again, it works without the annoying pauses… for a day. It then resumed the problem I initially complained about. I’m raising the review to a cautionary four-star review.sigh: Chromecast has so much potential, but both of my units have been a time-sink.

Works perfect
Super easy to setup, just replaced the Fire Stick’s USB power cable with this adapter, plugged in the ethernet, and the FireTV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) is running on wired at ~450Mbps! =)I’ve got a solid WiFi5 speed from the Stick and it’s been fine for streaming, but I’m now using the Stick for Xbox Cloud and Steam Link gaming… my WiFi signal has far too much “noise” unfortunately, and it’s noticeable when gaming. This adapter solves that entirely, and now those options are running perfectly!Using it with a 2024 FireTV Stick 4K Max 2nd Gen and it was compatible instantly.

If you’re tired of buffering, laggy streaming, or inconsistent Wi-Fi performance on your streaming devices — this little gadget is the upgrade you didn’t know you needed. After installing the Cable Matters Micro USB to Ethernet Adapter on my Chromecast, I immediately noticed smoother, faster, and more stable streaming. This product delivers exactly what it promises.⸻🔌 PLUG-AND-PLAY — NO CONFIG NEEDEDInstallation was effortless:• Plug the USB into a power adapter• Plug the Micro USB into your Chromecast or Google Home• Connect the Ethernet cable• Done.No drivers. No setup. No reboot. Literally plug and go.Within seconds, my Chromecast detected the wired connection. The lights on the adapter lit up, confirming activity, and I instantly had a solid Ethernet link.⸻📡 GOODBYE WI-FI ISSUESLet’s be real — Wi-Fi can be unreliable, especially if you:• Have thick walls in your house• Live in a congested area with many signals• Experience streaming drops at night• Use your Chromecast far from the routerBefore this adapter, I had constant buffering while casting Netflix or YouTube, especially in the basement. Now? It’s like I upgraded to a new streaming device. Everything loads faster, streams at full resolution (4K included), and never pauses to buffer. It’s literally night and day.⸻⚡ SPEED & STABILITY: TRUE 480MbpsI ran some informal speed tests using my Chromecast and streaming 4K content from various platforms. While you won’t get gigabit speeds (this is USB 2.0), the 480Mbps throughput is more than enough for:• 4K UHD streaming• Twitch and YouTube Live• Video calls via Google Home• And even small downloadsMost streaming platforms recommend 25 Mbps for 4K, so this adapter gives you headroom 10x over. It’s stable, consistent, and doesn’t fluctuate like Wi-Fi.⸻🛠️ COMPATIBILITY & BUILD✅ Works with:• Chromecast (all generations with Micro USB)• Google Home Mini• Fire Stick (some models)• Other Micro USB streaming devices❌ Does NOT work with:• Roku devices (as clearly stated)• Any device that requires USB-C instead of Micro USBBuild-wise, it feels solid. The cables are thick and durable, the Ethernet port clicks firmly, and there’s a small blue LED to confirm power/activity.Even the packaging was clean and professional — no cheap plasticky feeling at all.⸻✈️ TRAVEL TIPIf you travel and use streaming devices in hotel rooms, this is a must-have.Hotels often have terrible Wi-Fi, but many provide Ethernet ports. Just hook this adapter up, and you’ve got a private, stable connection for your Chromecast or Fire Stick.I now keep it in my tech pouch when I travel.⸻💡 SMALL NOTEMake sure your power adapter delivers enough current (at least 1A) — some cheaper USB wall plugs may not give sufficient power for both the Chromecast and Ethernet adapter. I use a 2A plug and it works perfectly.⸻🔥 FINAL VERDICT — 5/5If you’re:• Tired of Wi-Fi instability• Want smoother, buffer-free 4K streaming• Need better performance on Chromecast or Google Home• Looking for a small, affordable upgrade with big results…This adapter is 100% worth the investment.⸻✅ What I Loved:• ✔️ Plug-and-play — no setup needed• ✔️ Instant Ethernet connection recognized• ✔️ Great build quality• ✔️ Perfect for Chromecast & Google Home• ✔️ Major improvement in streaming quality• ✔️ Reliable for travel or home setupsFor under $30, it eliminated the #1 pain point I had with streaming — Wi-Fi dropouts. Now, everything just works.Would I buy it again? Without hesitation.Highly, highly recommended.***** If you found this review helpful, please click ‘Helpful’ below! *****

For Canadian Bell customers that use the Fibe TV app with the Bell streamer this works great. When I initially ordered the service I was misinformed and was told there was an ethernet connection on the box. I tried to argue with Loyalty and was told I could not get the other kind as it was for cable tv packages and I would have to pay much more per month.I’m old school and do not use Wi-Fi at all, everything is hard wired. So when I found this adapter I kept my fingers crossed in hopes that it would be compatible. And it was!Speed is good and consistent and now I have a proper Android box with all the apps I want and can even use NordVPN to access georestricted content.Thank you Cable Matters!

Ni de lejos da los 480mb prometidos, solo me da entre 25 y 36, el original de Amazon al menos me da 93, muy decepcionado del producto.
