Perfect for schoolwork, college assignments, and working from home when I need it!
As someone who juggles college assignments, a busy kid in school, and random work-from-home days, this HP DeskJet 4227e has honestly become one of my most-used home essentials.Instruction Quality: Setup was SO simple. The HP Smart app walks you through everything — no guessing, no frustration, just plug it in and follow the steps.Print Speed: For our everyday needs, the speed is great. It prints my study guides and my son’s worksheets quickly without slowing either of us down.Connectivity: Zero issues here. It connected to Wi-Fi instantly and stays connected. No random disconnects or having to redo setup.Wireless Connectivity: This has been a game changer. I can print straight from my phone or laptop, and my son prints from his tablet. No cords. No drama.Print Quality: The prints come out clean, sharp, and consistent — whether it’s his school projects or my college assignments. Black and color both look great.Ink Capacity: Surprisingly good! We print pretty regularly, and the ink lasts longer than I expected. I also love that the app shows the ink levels so I’m never caught off guard.Overall, this little printer fits perfectly in our home. It’s compact, reliable, and just easy. If you’re a parent, a student, or someone who needs a no-stress printer for everyday life, this one is a solid pick. I definitely recommend it.

Surprisingly Loud and Feels Cheaper Than Older HP Models
I purchased the HP DeskJet 4227e as a replacement for my HP 3830, which I’ve used for about six years. Unfortunately, the 3830’s LCD touch screen was damaged, and the repair cost was quoted at $250, which made replacement the more practical option. While this model looks clean and modern on the outside, the actual user experience has been disappointing. The most noticeable issue is the noise level — this printer is significantly louder than my old 3830. Every print job is surprisingly noisy, which is not something I expected from a newer model.Speed-wise, HP lists similar performance between the two models, but in real-world use this printer feels slower. Another downside is the lack of a touchscreen. Without it, the only way to set up or manage wireless printing is through the HP app, which can be inconvenient and frustrating, especially for users who are not tech-savvy.Build quality is another letdown. Although the design looks decent, the printer feels noticeably cheaper once it’s actually running and in use.If you only need a basic printer for light, occasional printing, I would recommend saving some money and choosing the HP DeskJet 2827e instead. It performs the same essential functions without the higher price, and this model doesn’t offer enough real improvement to justify the cost.

Simple and easy
My main use for this printer is to print patterns and packing slips/labels. So far, it’s worked great. It is simple to set up and very comprehensive. The ink you get with the printer is more like a sample size and ran out very quickly. But the 3 months of the free subscription allowed the full size refills to be sent straight to me before the ink was out.I wanted a printer that I could use from my phone and without a subscription. This one checks both those boxes.Although the subscription service is not mandatory, it is convenient. I’m considering keeping it after the free trial ends. The subscription offers timely i k and paper refills and is customizable based on your needs and preferences.I was able to print from both my phone and computer with little to no hassle.I had one connectivity issue where it said the printer was busy so I couldn’t print anything. The app offered several solutions and I got it working again. That may have been due to user error though considering I accidentally unplugged it.It is a slight inconvenience that it always has to be on. I understand that it needs to be connected to wifi for the app to measure the amount of ink left in the machine, but I’m working with limited outlets and this printer permanently subtracts one.Overall, it prints, scans, and copies great. It is a simple printer that will get the job done.

Budget friendly. Works well.
Budget friendly printer, copier, scanner.Hopefully it will last a while.Easy set up.Works both remote with WiFi mobile, and USB connect with Desktop computer.Compact design.Insta-Ink compatible, so you never run out of ink. Once you sign up for Insta-Ink, HP monitors your ink usage and automatically ships new ink cartridges to you, so it’s hassle free.

Reliable and easy-to-use printer for everyday needs
I purchased this printer for home use, and it has been very convenient for everyday printing tasks. The wireless setup was simple, and connecting it to multiple devices worked smoothly without any issues.Print quality is clear and consistent for documents, and the overall performance has been reliable. I also appreciate the compact design, which fits well in small spaces without feeling bulky. After regular use, it continues to perform as expected and handles basic printing needs efficiently. This is a solid option for anyone looking for a straightforward, dependable printer for home or light office use.

Please put a paper tray on this thing
It was surprisingly easy to set up. Much easier than my last HP. The 3 stars are for a horrible paper feeder As one reviewer said, “Why can’t they just put a paper tray on it”. The paper feeds at the top. It will not hold many sheets of paper. It is hard to load the paper If it is not in Perfectly it will not work. If there is a tiny crimp in the paper it will not work. It is horrible.

Great printer. Easy to set up and operate. I replaced an older, larger HP that died over the course if a week, seamlessly and without many problems (aside from the ‘human verification’ puzzle which only gets progressively harder with each failed attempt). I even transferred the HP Instant Ink subscription to this printer without much hassle.

The HP 4227E constantly shows a paper jam even when there is no paper stuck, making it basically unusable. Setup was unnecessarily difficult and frustrating, especially for a basic home printer. On top of that, it’s extremely loud when it does manage to print. I regret this purchase and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable or easy-to-use printer.
