Good drive from a great seller!
What, a “refurbished” hard drive, no way. Even brand new HDD’s can fail. Well, it does have a 5 year warranty but what is that worth? The price is certainly right so I decided to give it a try anyway. I have had this 14TB drive for a little over two years using it for almost daily for backups and videos without issue. It’s worked out so well, I also bought a refurbished16TB from this seller a couple months ago.Well, a couple of weeks ago the 14TB made a strange clicking sound and then nothing. Nothing I tried could bring this back to life. Time to see if that 5 year warranty is real! I wrote the seller and in less than 24 hours I was sending back the old drive. In less than a week the new drive arrived. Now that is a company with great customer service and one who stands by their warranty.

Keep to their words, replaced drive after using it for half a year, excellent service
outstanding service. After half a year my drive was disconnecting by itself frequently so I reached out to seller and they replaced it no questions asked.

2/3 Dead on Arrival
Bought two of these to expand a server build. One formatted and mounted without issue. The second one made an intermittent buzzing sound, didn’t spin up, and prevented the pc from booting. Tried to troubleshoot but known good cables and ports made no difference. Decided to request a replacement and about a week later I got a new (refurbished) drive. SAME EXACT ISSUE. Troubleshooting still did nothing. That’s two out of three drives dead on arrival and that’s too much for me. I returned all three and might have to wait up to 30 days for a refund. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and say it might have been a shipping issue, but BOTH failed drives arrived in completely undamaged packaging.I won’t roll the dice with Amazon Refurbished again personally, at least not for HDDs. It’s not worth the risk.

Fantastic Rebranded Drive – Great Cost/Performance
This product has gotten much hate, the drive I received was a rebranded Seagate Exos drive at a fraction of the cost. The 14TB MMD drive came with a 5-year warranty, the same as if I had purchased the Seagate Exos drive from an authorized seller. The drive has worked flawlessly and I have not experienced any weird behavior, fluctuating speeds, or a higher-than-normal sound. My array is located in another room adjacent to me (not soundproofed) and I cannot hear any drive noise. I would 100% purchase these again and plan to purchase more in the upcoming months as I expand my arrays and storage.EDIT: Its 2024 and I’ve know purchased 5 of these drives, all working flawlessly in my NAS, 2 report being Seagate Exo drives, the other 3 report themselves as MDD drives. I will continue to purchase this product for my NAS needs and hopefully ill never need to utilize their 5 year warranty.

affordable refurbished hard drive
April 29, 2024 update:A couple days of usage and I’ve noticed an issue. My Drobo originally had 4 Western Digital 14 TB hard drives but 1 of them failed. This MDD drive replaced that failed WD drive. In the past couple days, I’ve noticed during writing (to the Drobo) operations where the data transfer would drop to zero during the write process and the Drobo would disconnect then reconnect to my computer. It doesn’t happen with every data transfer. During the write operation I could hear the noisy MDD drive. This behavior is new, it didn’t happen when it was the 4 WD drives.Original Review:The drive ran a long format without issue, which took 22 hrs to complete. I used the long format instead of the quick format because I wanted the hard drive to be surface scanned for errors.SMART data shows it has been reset (0 hours of use and 0 power on) so no telling how long this was actually used prior to being refurbished. SMART data serial number and serial number on the label don’t match each other.Seems to work fine in my Drobo 5D3 storage array. Will update if anything changes or if I end up having to attempt to make good on the 5 year seller warranty. My drive was bought from DBSKY.

Good Customer Service, Good Drives.
I Have ordered a nice bit of these to rebuild and setup a new NAS. I recieved one that was defective and the company replaced it without issue. As refurb drives go… I love these and will continue to purchase.

Realiable NAS with a 5 Year Warranty
I bought two of these 14TB NAS drives to replace my old NON-NAS 2TB drives (2). After setting them up on my old NetGear Ready NAS 201 I have had Zero issues, I use my Ready NAS 201 as my Plex server to share movies, family pic, and fun videos with family and friends with no issues steaming. Great Buy for the prices!! Remember, This has a 5 year Warranty in addition to Amazon the 30 day return policy. After 30 day, if you have issues with the drive. Contact the manufactory for a RMA to replace them! 🙂

Great for backups
I buy large, cheap hard drives like this for backing up my system. I have a 1Tb drive for boot up and operation with 3 5Tb drives spanned for 14Tb of data to back up. I bought a 16Tb drive refurbished, and it only lasted 2 years. I decided to buy one of these drives. The first of these hard drives came DOA. But the return and replacement could not be simpler or easier. Five stars for that. The working drive was very easy to install under Windows 10 home 64bit. The drive works perfectly with the standard W10 64bit drivers. Using Disk Manager, the time it took to set it up was trivial. The replacement drive came with a 5 year warrantee registration card in the box. The first one did not come with that card, but both drives came sealed in their anti-static bag. So I know both were new. Make sure yours comes with the registration card. Fill it out, and be sure to send it in. That 5 year warrantee is a big part of my decision to buy this drive. The read/write performance is typical of a SATA III drive. My backup software, (Macrium Reflect) achieved up to 1.2Gb/second backup speed, and reports 1.5Gb/second raw I/O speed while the cache provides a modest improvement at 1.7Gb/s. I assume the difference is compression time and overhead. Nothing fancy or special, just a solid performance. As of this review, the cost/GB is outstanding. It’s an excellent value that will likely only get even better over time.

I recently purchased two 14TB NAS drives for my new Home Office set-up. I was on a (tightish) budget but wanted a good capacity which led me to the MDD units. I read the reviews from many of the Amazon “Experts” (naysayers) and flim-flammed between buying other units at a much greater price.I finally dived in and the drives arrived as new units (phew). After installation they ran like a dream – They are smooth (no undue noises or mechanical sounds), the upload / download speeds are as expected and, although it has only been a couple of months, they are performing as expected without any concerns.I am pleased I didn’t believe some of the naysayers and went with my choices – You…well that’s your choice !

Was sold by Amazon as new but is in fact renewed. The drive is noisy but that’s to be expected given it’s capacity and heavy duty construction. The five year warranty is very welcome and a SMART test shows the total runtime when supplied as only 319 hours.Overall I’d happily recommend this drive.

this item was not as good as Iron wolf I’ve had this drive in my NAS for just over a year And the two drives that I bought had already crashed. and there was no information in the package for the warranty. the package only had the drives in it when contacting the seller they say they don’t deal with warranty and they have no contact information That it was all in the box which was not. but all in all these drives were not worth the money I spent on them for a NAS drive you would think these drives would last a little longer then just under a year and a half. in retrospect I think I would have just gone with the iron as it has a 10 year warranty And I’ve had my ironwolf for 6 years now and not one has crashed or failed. These drives crashed and failed in just under a year and a half I really wouldn’t buy these drives But I guess you get what you pay for. Update don’t buy these drives The sellers won’t give you warranty and The manufacturer won’t give warranty because it’s not in the United States and they refer you to Amazon.ca and Amazon is more than useless in helping you with warranty issues. They send you to Maxx Drive and there are total solution company and they don’t make hard drives and they don’t sell them. but amazon likes to think so and the Chief Executive Officer of maxx drive which by the way he is a very polite and nice man to talk to And offers different ideas on how to get warranty in the United States. the actual manufacture of this product Again it is not Maxx drive They have nothing to do with these hard drives. the actual manufacturer is go hard drive .com They’re the ones that make and produce the hard drives they’re very crappy hard drives and don’t work And are not worth the money I don’t care if they were $2 they still not would be worth the money. if you have to buy a hard drive Paid a little extra Buy the IRON WOLF I’ve never had a problem with them ever and I’ll never buy these drives ever again live and learn

Vive l’achat local.
