Well worth it, easily my favorite brand of cameras I’ve used. I will say the drill bit that is listed in the instructions was too small. Camera quality is great and it was very easy to set up and connect to the app. I haven’t had to use night vision on this particular camera but my other cameras through this brand have had amazing night vision quality.

Has shown 100% battery for months
Updated review: 11/30/2025I am updating my review, based on several months of use. I pulled the camera back out, because I just didn’t think the battery should die this fast and thought, “what if a factor reset would fix the issue”. I performed a factory reset and re-installed everything. The camera has been working flawlessly. There must have been a bug or issue with a previous update that caused the battery to drain very fast. After this work, it no longer shows that the Solar panel is connected, but the battery remains at 100% and has been at 100% for several months. It just works. I may have to do another factory reset and update, because I’d like the solar panel to show as connected. It does say in the app that the solar charging and use is in beta, so that means it may not show properly. I am amazed that it went from draining the battery very fast to not showing the battery is draining at all. It makes me think that it is incorrect and not at 100%, however it has been running without issue for months. I am changing my review from 1 start to 4 out of 5 stars, because the battery drain issue has been fixed. There are still more firmware bugs to work out, but the camera has been working.——————————————-Previous review.I was hoping the Tapo TP-Link C400 Kit would be a reliable off-grid solution. I already own several Tapo cameras that are directly powered and have performed well, so I had high expectations. Living in Michigan, I’m aware that winter sunlight is limited due to frequent cloud cover, but I still wanted to give solar a try.Unfortunately, even on bright, cloudless days, the battery performance was disappointing. After a full day of sun exposure (roughly 7 AM to 8 PM), the battery only gained about 20% charge. Once the sun set, that charge drained completely within three hours. I experimented with different settings—balanced and battery saver—but saw no improvement.To rule out excessive activity, I checked the footage when the battery was around 10%. There were no recordings, and nothing appeared to be triggering the camera. I even ran a test by fully charging the camera and placing it in a box to eliminate any motion. Despite zero activity, the battery was dead within two days.On the positive side, setup was simple, and the image quality and notifications matched the performance of my other Tapo devices. However, the battery life is a major flaw. The claim that a few hours of sunlight can power the camera for a full day simply doesn’t hold up. Unless this unit is directly powered, it’s unusable. Regrettably, I can’t recommend this solar-powered camera based on this experience.

Great cam!
As with my other Tapo cams this is an excellent, quality product and I am very impressed with the solar panel capability to charge the battery even though I don’t get great sunlight. Best of all these cams support open standards and the available app doesn’t have nagging advertisements. Easy to connect to your 2GHz WIFI and no issues with having this quite a distance from the house outside on a tree.

Static is all that you hear in live and recording modes. The camera (& in fact all tape camera that I bought) have very bad Audio and Video EXTREMELY BAD QUALITY MICS making it extremely difficult to hear anything. The camera is good for video and pics only. If you want to record and monitor voice, steer away from this camera and this brand in general.

Pra quem usava uma xing ling de 100 reais da Shopee, essa daqui é uma divindade. Campo de visão amplo, cores boas, aproveitei e comprei um repetir descente tb da TPLink e não tive problemas ainda, sempre muito rápida a conexão ao abrir o app e mover a câmera. A câmera noturna achei muito boa, se passar mt rápido pode ser que não veja tão bem, mas da para ver feições que se for necessário caçar a pessoa pode ajudar uns 80%, comparada a anterior minha, 200% melhor nesse quesito. Instalação bem rápida, o problema que achei foi a troca de Wifi, o meu repetidor chegou depois e tive que trocar o Wifi cadastrado, ai tu tem que subir na escada, tirar a tampinha da camera, tirar parafuso, para ai conseguir reiniciar ela e recadastrar, acho que o app poderia ter alguma forma mais fácil de fazer isso, pq se for um idoso ou muito trampo de mexer na câmera, é um pé no saco mesmo.Outro contra é o app do computador, no meu caso Windows, achei bem ruim, a câmera perde a qualidade no pc, horrivel a conexao para se mover, a xingling eram bemmm melhor nesse quesito. Para quem tiver dificuldade em achar um app, uso o iSpy v7.2.6.0 . Muito ruim, inacreditável uma empresa nao fazer um app simples para conectar, mover, qualidade de video igual ao do celular, mas ok, faz parte. O app no celular é muito bom, notifica mais do que eu acho necessário, bem sensível, mas muito boa a qualidade e manuseio, única coisa que peca é realmente a troca do Wifi como disse.Som bom, microsd bem fácil de colocar e armazena certinho.Outra coisa legal do app do celular é os modos que aparecem no print da última foto, vc salva os modos que quer pré-ajustado e quando clica mt rapidamente já vai para a posição, curti muito, a chinesa tinha isso mas o app coloca logo de cara e é muito mais rápido, rapidasso mesmo. Curti muito.Se a Amazon colocar a venda a de 2k em uns 600 por ai eu iria preferir. Mas pagar 400 reais nessa daqui não acho ruim não, acho bem bom o custo beneficio, eu compraria novamente, mas vou aguardar a de 2k. Acho que em segurança não devemos economizar.
