Excellent home NAS for pro photographer
Excellent home NAS for my digital photos & videos collection. The TOS OS takes some time to get used to but plenty of instructions online. I was able transfer 20TB of data to the NAS in a few days & installed 3x NVME SSDs for cache (1 for system disk, 2 for cache).I setup bonded ethernet for the 2x 2.5Gbps connection to my Unifi router. Home has hardwired CAT6. Was able to edit 4k & 6k footage directly from the NAS with ease.Overall, this is a great NAS and has plenty of options for future expansion.

Happy with my purchase.
It’s small for what it holds and works really well and if you have silent drives it it is silent as well. Got a Seagate Exos in it and an M2 SSD to boot off of and it is almost completely silent unless I am transferring stuff to it.Loading SATA drives is trivial and tool free while loading in an M2 drive involves taking off the shell but so long as you know how to add them on a PC normally you will find it easy as well. Also, you can configure the drives to spin down when they aren’t in use for a while to save power and wear on the drives when you aren’t using them.Got it running Plex and it does it perfectly and so long as it isn’t transcoding the CPU usage is around 2-3% usage so just fine and can do transcoding in hardware so not even that is a big deal. The only time it had an issue was when I was sending a large number of files to it using the windows file sharing service at the same time as a video was playing and the video started buffering because I was maxing out the system. But that was on me so not really an issue. This isn’t a workstation NAS, this is a purpose built NAS to handle file serving and media server silently and efficiently. Use it as such and you will be happy with it. If you are wanting a workstation NAS that is strong enough to be replace your desktop, you will need to look elsewhere and pay twice as much or more while using a lot more electricity to do it.The way I do it, install an M2 and put the OS and Plex or any other app you want to run on the M2 and then your main files on the bigger drives. That you your menus and apps all load fast and then your bigger drives don’t actually start spinning up till they are running stuff. With Plex, you can navigate the menu as fast as the drive will go and the SATA drives doesn’t need to run until you actually launch the video.

Nice hardware, software is meh
I bought this after owning a QNAP for ten years. N150 essentially gives me the same power as the 3rd gen i7 I had except tdp is 6w instead of 65w. So I like the CPU and the 3x m.2 slots. The software looked like trash compared to qnap and Synology, but I had no intention of using it. Easily installed debian, zfs, cockpit, docker and portainer. I have a small 250gb m.2 for the OS, a 2TB WD red m.2 for frigate recordings and swap, anything that needs caching. Then 4x 12tb drives in a zfs array. Using a 2.5bt switch I can pull about 1.3gbps off of the zfs array.I’m taking off 1 star because the software looks worse than what competitors had ten years ago, would not trust it.

Nice little unit
Nice little unit. Upgraded the ram to 32gb DDR4, added two NVME drives and installed TrueNAS on them. Migrated a zpool and upgraded the storage with some new IronWolf HDDs. Hosting several docker containers device is snappy and responsive, all working as expected.
Kathy Csaszar –
Very satisfied.
The unit is exactly as advertised and reviewed by others on line. In that my use case in not that rigorous, I really can’t attest to how it compares to the competition. I only had one issue in opening up the device to install an SSD; one of the screws was entirely too tight and ended up a little chewed up. All in all, I’m very satisfied.

Look elsewhere
I have had nothing but bad luck with this unit. After realizing that hardware I had laying around from an older NAS was not on the compatibility list, I paid up for drives from their recommended hardware list. No configuration of drive(s) installation allows you to get past the initialization process. Support seems to be by forum, slow, and limited pertaining my issues with this hardware. I wanted to like it due to the specs, but sadly I cannot get it to work. I have 30 years in the computer industry. This is not the plug and play I anticipated.

Absolutely amazing product, premium packaging and product, excellent speed, options and flexibility. At this price point it is an amazing deal. Excellent for entry level users upto pros it has excellent feature set for a NAS.

John Servage –
Very complex system, not well suited for the beginner or someone just looking for basic functionality like backup and file server. Despite my experience I struggled with setup and connection to my to tv’s and tablet. I reluctantly ended up returning it and opting for a simpler Linksys LS220 which worked well for me. My other reason for returning it was their terrible tech support. The only option I had was chat which consisted of terse one or two sentences with very long delays between responses. Videos are fine but sometimes you actually need to talk with someone. Disappointed.

There’s a big performance problem, the processor isn’t a processor, it’s very slow and freezes.
