    Just Great
I have installed many of these multi-terabyte HGST drives in the past, and their failure rate is commendably low. Failures do happen with all hard drives, and this brand is known for its reliability. These particular drives came in great condition and worked perfectly upon installation.HGST, now a Western Digital brand, has been one I can trust, and I still do. Will gladly buy more of these as needed.

    2 drives DOA
I’ve had good luck up until this point purchasing refurbished/renewed drives. Unfortunately with my last order of two 18 TB drives, my luck has changed. One drive was recognized by my system but indicated it had 27k+ hours of use (over 3 years) which in itself is fine, however immediately at idle I found the drive was clicking nonstop every couple of seconds which is generally an indication of imminent failure. Second drive would not spin up and was not recognized in 2 different systems. Perhaps drives were damaged in shipping? In any event, requesting refund.

    Seems good
One thing to check when you buy renewed is the serial number. These checked out and when tested were like brand new drives. I love these.

    Good deal and good drives
The drives were just as advertised. I even ran them through several of the smart tests and they all passed.

It is not renewed. Just used.
Smart is not reseted.. running time 20000hour &20 uptime. I think it’s datacenter’s hdd.I bought it thinking about WD’s headquarters re-certified product, but it wasn’t. I feel very sorry.

31 thousand hours of use already Drive should be 50 Bucks
I used Crystal Disk Info, a free utility available for download, to check the health of this drive. It revealed that the drive already has an astonishing 31,000 hours of use on it. There’s no way I can trust storing photos here, and while I’m keeping the drive for now, it’s already running hot—even in an open-frame case. This is a clear sign that its remaining lifespan is likely short. For anyone looking to replace a large 18+ TB drive, be cautious. Sellers like this are often flipping 3- to 4-year-old used drives for easy profit. With 31,000 hours of wear, this drive should have been priced closer to $50, not sold as a more expensive “deal.” It’s common knowledge that once a drive hits 30,000 hours, it’s nearing the end of its life and should be replaced.UPDATE: 3-10-2025Cyclic Redundancy Errors now on both drives that I ordered…..I knew it. I knew it. I knew it.Please read reviews before you plan on using these drives. At 30+ thousand hours, they were replaced for a reason!Funny thing is that the On/Off count was reset but not the hours lol Crystal Disk utility shows you on off counts as well as hours of use. The power on count was 1 when I got them but they were over 30 thousand hours of use.Live and Learn. This company should be ashamed of itself. And they don’t respond.

The hard-drive arrived inside two boxes and with a custom airbag that wraps the device perfectly. It also came in a sealed antistatic original wrapping. It had no signs of being previously used, no scratches or signs that screws were used which makes me think it’s a brand new unit. The hard-drive is not that loud as some customers had commented here, it just make the usual eventual clicks that mechanic drivers like that do. It turns off when the computer is idle for a while, then turns back on right away after moving the mouse or using the keyboard. After one month of use, I can say I am extremely satisfied with the product and I will soon purchase a second unit.

This is the second time I have bought this Hard Drive renewed. The first one I received was great & would give it a 5 star rating. The second one that I recieved recently, had a different label than the one pictured (no graphics) & the weight & form of the Hard Drive seemed heavier & different. I own 3 of these hard drives. Two purchased new from OWC & one renewed from Amazon. They all perform equally. After installing this last one I noticed that files were transferring slowly & decided to run Blackmagic Disk Speed Test to compare the drives. The first 3 performed well but this last one ran at 17 – 18% read/write speeds. Am not sure what I received but it definitely was not a “WD Ultrastar DC HC550 18TB 7200RPM” hard drive. The aftermarket label stated that it was but was clearly printed & attached in an effort to deceive the customer. If you purchase this, make sure that you run tests to ensure that you’ve received the actual product !!!

The packaging was excellent. I used filldisk to fill the drives and then did a full scan using HDDScan and both performed perfectly.
