Incredible Tool
Purchased this product because I have used ExpressVPN for years. I get the Aircove so that I can travel and use this to both extend my WiFi range and VPN service all-in-one. I got to the hotel because I was traveling. Go to setup – NOPE!!! Must use a wired network to do the initial setup, then you can establish the ability to wireless link with other WiFi networks. In other words, this is useless until I finish my travels and eventually return home. This was NEVER stated in the information about the product on the Amazon site. If you purchase, ensure you have a wired network you can connect to in order to setup. You cannot do it otherwise.Update: ExpressVPN reached out and walked me through a manual means to setup the Aircove Go. Worked like a champ!! Brent spent 30 minutes making sure every aspect of the setup worked. I have been using it at several hotels and I love it. So easy to use and no more hassles in connecting my laptops or smart devices to the hotel – auto connects to Aircove Go, and I simply connect Aircove Go to the hotel. About one minute and all devices are connected. Perfect – exactly what I wanted. Not to mention secure VPN connections. Thank you!!

Fantastic for the business or tech traveler
I bought this to replace an older Android device that I was using for wifi-to-wifi sharing and I’ve been very pleased! I was already an ExpressVPN user, so this integrated with my account perfectly. It’s USB-C powered and can be plugged into any sufficiently-powered USB-C socket (I *think* PD-20+ is the spec, but I can power it on most of my high-wattage hubs). The killer feature for some is per-device VPNs, which allows you to select which device goes to which endpoint. For personal devices, this is nice because you can offload the VPN computation out to the router and just use the internet like normal. For work devices it’s a little less relevant since you’re probably on a host-level VPN anyway. I’ve tested and it works great with streaming devices (Fire TV, etc) for those that need that. For me, the best feature is being able to set-and-forget the Wifi sharing directly over its web interface. Additionally, it has WAN and LAN ethernet ports, so if you find a spot with a hard line, you don’t even need to do that. I’ve also found the transmission antennaes to be great (much further than if using a phone to Wifi share), which probably means the connectivity its making for its wifi uplink will be more solid as well.Overall, a great purchase and a good value.

A great solution for international travel, but some limitations when using wirelessly
This VPN travel router is compact and easy to pack in a backpack or luggage, and it works absolutely perfectly when plugged into another router or internet modem with a cable. The app works well, but I have had some problems logging into hotel wifi systems that require a login page to register your device. Sometimes it works wirelessly in that way, and sometimes not.I would still recommend it for privacy and security while you are traveling. It also makes it really easy to set your VPN location as the USA from anywhere in the world to allow you to stream video from services like Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and other services that have limited global coverage

Must Have for Remote Work
So far very happy. Need to test it hardwired in for trading but perfect for emails, work or streaming. Favorite part is being able to pick which city for the VPN and the level of security for each channel.

A great idea but implementation as described by the documentation is lacking
The good: very portable, a variety of outlet connectors useful for travelling. Provides a barrier between devices and open WiFi networks. I’ve used this at the tea shop I frequent when I need to do work and it beats the pants off using my cellular hotspot. User interface is easy to use and isn’t too technical. This is why I gave it two stars – because it at least does that. Read on why I’m not giving it more stars…The bad: I bought this specifically for travel and it’s been a miserable failure. Contrary to what the documentation says, it does not handle captive portals like what you find at hotels. Instead of prompting me to fill out the captive portals info like the documentation said it would, there was no prompt, and my Internet connection would stay online for a few minutes, then drop, the come back online, and so on. I was stuck with my phone’s 256K cellular instead and it wasn’t pleasant. If the return window hadn’t closed already, I’d return this because it basically doesn’t work as advertised.

It worked well At five different hotels in Sicily
It took me awhile to figure out how to set it up. Once I did that it worked very well well. It’s great to be able to sign the Aircove into a network and then connect all family devices to the Aircove and have the VPN protection. I use a Washington, DC VPN location to get DC TV stations through YouTube TV when I am home in Virginia but YouTube TV said I was out of the country while I was in Sicily even when I was still using a Washington, DC VPN location. Netflix and Amazon Prime gave me US programming while I was in Sicily when I used the DC VPN location. The small size of the Alcove means that it takes up very little suitcase space. I look forward to using it whenever I travel. The ability to use the Aircove via a WiFi connection to a hotel network is a big plus as many if not most hotels just provide WiFi and don’t offer the option of using a cable to connect.

Doesn’t work on public WiFi
I tried in two different doctor’s offices to simulate what I would experience in a hotel wifi network. I wanted to use it during a vacation in France to establish a secure connection. Hotel wifi networks are notoriously insecure and connecting my cell phone to a hotel wifi network for wifi calling or general connectivity for email and other browsing is risky. So I guess I’ll just have to use the mobile network while we’re on this vacation. They are much more secure than wifi. Expensive but more secure for sure. Big disappointment.

I had a some difficulty loading the express VPN on this unit, but that could be just me….instructions could be a bit more clear in my opinion.
Caveat Emptor –
I must have spent an hour online with the kind technical support and no matter what he did he couldn’t get it to work with my $3K Dell XPS laptop (not cheap junk) but it worked with my TV so I let it go but two days later the TV quit working, also my iPhone, Samsung S23, my Amazon Fire HD 8″, and all my Echo devices (all 4 of them) so I’m sending it back. “Your mileage may vary” The hard fact of life is that it’s cheaper to let the customer do the quality control than test electrical devices than to do it themselves. I can see that with a $10 toaster, but this was hundreds of dollars, for crying out loud. I also noted to the technical support gentleman that the unit was running very hot, unlike my Netgear wireless router which I’ve gone back to using.
