reasonable price and performance lasts 2 years
I have a dedicated 24/7 NAS setup using a Synology DS 723+ which I upgraded to 32GB RAM and 2 TB of M2 Cache and use in RAID 1.I first setup the NAS in late 2023 with 2 of these 8TB N300 and around October 2025 I received a warning that one of the hard drives failed. I therefore bought a new one which had slightly diff specs since it was newer (512mb vs 256mb cache). It worked seamlessly (plug and play) and the RAID was rebuilt.I have the NAS in a dedicated area not is not in close proximity so noise was not a concern for me. However when up close the drives do make a little more noise than other hard drives. Not thunderous but not silent either. In summary, the drives work well. I had one failure just after 2 years (which is reasonable in my view) and replacement was seamless for rebuilding the RAID.

Cool and quiet
I ordered 5 N300 Pro (14tb) to use in a NAS. It surprised me how quiet the drives are and how cool they run. So far most of my time has only been spent rebuilding the storage pool, but I’m happy with the drives and their cool running temps. Granted my NAS is not very beefy in terms of hardware, but temps and noise is comparable to my old 4TB WD100EFAX drives. All drives passed the extended SMART test.Regarding the warranty, what other folks said is true, I checked my drives and they all showed NO WARRANTY on the Toshiba site. But with that said, I also bought some 6TB WD drives from Amazon as spares for another NAS and those also show “NO LIMITED WARRANY” on the WD site, same boat there.

Fast, quiet, and cool running drives.
Very nice drives. These are really quiet and run cooler in my QNAP NAS than the WD Red drives I replaced. I think the helium filling helps in reducing heat. It has been a couple of decades since I have had a Toshiba drive. It is great to see that the quality is still there.

It’s OK
It does what it’s supposed to do. My only pet peeve is slow on turning on and it always sounds like it’s having spasms inside.

Reliable storage
It’s running my QNAP NAS right now. Totally reliable and quiet. I should have bought 2.

Horrific error and failure rates! Not even a month!? Really?!
Dropping like flies with just around 500 hours! Drive after drive unrecoverable with just a bit over 500 hours lifetime. That is a horrific situation for 20TB drives. That is a great deal of lost data and time to recover from backups! I would NEVER purchase another Toshiba drive. Ever after this nightmare. I am having a horrendous time reaching support for an RMA… always on hold. I have read reviews and ignored them about drive quality and RMA/Warranty. In my case… all of the negative warnings were completely TRUE! Do NOT purchase these drives. I regret my purchase! I don’t want anyone else to suffer the loss of time, money, and the complete loss of faith that I have experienced. I still have 6 drives left to worry about now. Despite the cost… I really think it best to just replace these brand new drives with Western Digital. I cannot take more data recovery and downtime due to this sub-standard product.

Bought six Toshiba N300 Pro 20 TB drives for my Synology NAS (using five, keeping one as a spare). Shipping was fast, and the packaging was sturdy with Canadian documentation. They run cooler and just as fast as my IronWolf Pro and WD Red Pro drives. My NAS gave a “not tested” warning, but they’ve been working perfectly — quiet, cool, and loads of storage. I’ll update once I finish upgrading all five bays from 16 TB to 20 TB.6-Week Update After Completing the UpgradeAfter replacing all of my 8 TB drives and expanding the storage pool to its full capacity, everything has been running flawlessly. The data-scrubbing process completed without any errors, and performance has stayed consistently strong — still cool, quiet, and stable. The only minor challenge I ran into is that the specific serial-number range on these drives doesn’t seem to match any publicly available Toshiba documentation. Even so, the firmware they shipped with has been perfectly reliable so far. No compatibility issues, no disk warnings, and zero problems in daily operation over the last 6 weeks.Overall, the upgrade has been smooth, and the drives continue to deliver excellent performance and thermal behavior in my Synology setup.

Le rapport qualité/stockage/prix est excellent. Revient moins cher le tara que d’autres marques et une meilleure cache interne.Installé dans un NAS terramaster F2-425 2 baie qui les a reconnu et performe bien.
